The call is coming from inside the vault! Get out of there! Oh right, you can’t.

    So… are Anti-paladins baladins? Is anti-matter watter? Are anti-fairies £airies? Are anti-disestablishmentarianists… uh… never mind.

“Baladin” is actually another name for bards. https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/baladin

      I think “badalin” works better.

Do you happen to be a Celeste fan or was that just a coincidence?

Did Mimic manage to sense anything while she was dumbstruck?

Nitpick Trivia Time: Wario’s name wasn’t derived from simply inverting the M in Mario’s name. It’s actually derived from the Japanese word “warui,” which means “bad person.” It’s a portmanteau of “Bad Mario.”

True, but I STILL want “Wadeline” to be official. That or Wahdeline.

It could be a two-tiered pun. Those are objectively better than one-tiered puns.

As a follow-up, “ijiwarui” means “mean-spirited” or “bad-natured”. If you rearrange the kana a bit, it becomes “waruiiji” (Waluigi).

So what is the Japanese word for “anti”?

On another note, “Anti-Madeline” -> “Adeline”. No, that’s not my coat, I’ll get it myself, thank you.

Maybe they just need to jump around until they hit the invisible block with the power-up they need?

This is a NOIR story. It’s never that easy.

If there’s a gap like that, easy enough to get in and out; Gaseous Form. Even if you’re not a caster, it comes as a potion. Of course, that doesn’t help much now that the genre has shifted.

The big issue isn’t so much how they got out, but how they got the relics out.

Worn and carried items are usually included in polymorph effects.

There’s no reason to think that magical items don’t continue in the noir genre. After all, Mimic is still a mimic.

So if they come across a black enameled falcon, it probably has wonderous power?

Too bad halfling’s can’t see in the dark. Curiously, Mimic’s in 3.5 and 5e don’t appear to have tremorsense but do have darkvision.

Funny enough, they do appear to have darkvision instead, despite not having any visible eyes.

The mimic illustration in the 5e Monster Manual *does* have eyes.

Really nice perspective on Stabs’ face in the last panel, especially with the expression.
