So… what WAS Antropas’s end-game here?
Become the new queen, if the house rules allow for promotions like that. It’s rare that people seek power for reasons beyond the desire for more power.
Actually, no. Almost no one seeks power for power’s sake. Power does nothing on its own.
Even for something as little as working for a paycheck, you don’t care about the paycheck. (Money being power quantified.) You care about what the paycheck gets you. In many cases, a house, food, a car or two, and some other luxuries that differ by taste.
If I recall correctly she got influenced by the artifact.. Maddie didn’t smell evil in her.
Possibly she wasn’t thinking that far ahead.
So, some of the warriors can speak, if an extremely limited manner. Interesting.
That watchman was in fact the night man. The question is, is he programmed to receive…? And I loved the YELF review – Hotel open any time of the year.
It sure looks like someone’s about to check out.

Also, I like that Yelf apparently is able to integrate ‘Speak With Dead’ into its platform.

I love all of Antropas’s expressions here. Those antennae and even the mandibles are surprisingly expressive!
(YT’s expression in Panel 1 gets points too. Such a happy snek!)

OK, there seems to be a pattern in their myrmach names.If only I could put my finger on it…
I’ve been trying to figure it out too, but I just c’ant.
It appears to have something to do with the ANTerior portion of each name.
I anticipate the answer to this mystery

The night manager here seems to be more competent than the bodyguards that Antropas hired.
How did they even get negative reviews if the guests die and get turned into zombies?
Undead run on negative energy, so of course they’d leave negative reviews.

Possible Explanations:
1) Once they turn undead (in the non-Paladin way), Myrmarch then uses her control over them to give “an honest appraisal” of their time at the hotel. She probably believed the glamour they were under while alive would still be in force, and thus ensure high reviews.
2) Just before they turn undead, but lacking the strength to escape, they try to warn others away via the only means of getting a message out: through the online reviews.
3) This reviewer did escape, but left a warning on the online reviews because he thought it funny, or at least the best thing he could do to warn others.
What I’m most impressed by is that, despite being killed and turned into an undead, they still got two stars instead of one.
Well, it IS a lovely place.

I suspect the night manager’s name is Frankie.
He doesn’t look at all programmed to receive.

As for the chapter ending… Don’t forget it’s only the first of at least three. I’m looking forward the next team’s adventures. Will it be Cube’s, or Mimic’s?

Gotta say, I’m LOVING that last Panel.
To me, NOTHING says “R E L A X” quite like a claw in the eye-socket.
( … not that it’s GOOD, just that there’s nothing quite LIKE it … )
Begs the question what would it take for a hotel to receive only one star?

I didn’t notice until just now, but it’s an interesting detail that all the males have 3 digits while the females have 4. While I know very little about entomology I know there’s something similar (or at least “close enough”) with Fruit flies. The way to tell a boy Fruit Fly from a girl Fruit fly is to look at their little tiny feet for tarsal sex combs.
I may have issues with focusing on strange details.

There’s still a loose end. Why did Y.T ask for that turkey?
The going theory is that she just wanted the knife it came with. But then, maybe that’s just what she wants us to think…
Well you can’t exxxpect her to risssk her life on an empty ssstomache, can you? Not to mention, Thanksssgiving isss a couple monthsss from now…
I notice Antropas refers to herself as “we”. Think it’s because of the Formian hivemind? Do Formians even have singular personal pronouns?
That, or Antropas is just a narcissistic snob. Could go either way.
Actually, Antoinette does use “I” and “me”, so I’d say that favors the “narcissistic snob” theory.
Also take note of all the gems Antropas has decorated her carapace with. While some of the other myrmarchs have nice-looking clothes in a “well-dressed professional” kind of way (at least Antoinette, whose job includes greeting customers), Antropas is the only one who is outright showing off in an “I’m better that you” kind of way.
