The cherub playing the trumpet in the third panel is a delightful touch!

They’ll go to the Master’s table, to gather for the feast
They’ll stab her with their steely knives, but they just won’t kill the beast

    … until Rusty eats armor!

Hotel California, by The Eagles. this entire arc has been based on the song and it’s wonderful.

I think Rusty’s the beast, not her.

In fact, she’s clearly the Master… the original line is “In the Master’s *chambers* [not table], they gathered for the feast.”

    Heh. Anty Madeline.

A proper ant Madeline would quickly be squished by Anti-Madeline, who’d finally have an oppnent her size.

Anti-Madeline doesn’t really do “squishing opponents”. She’s all about the explosions, so if you sent her to clear out an ant nest, she’d be using dynamite.

A-N-T, dynamite. A-N-T, and she’ll win the fight!

There are worse things to smell like. In fact I suspect it is the least objectionable meat to have your hair smell like.

“Hotel California” was the most requested song of the decade back in the 1980s when Westwood One kept track of such things (and radio stations still took requests). Not bad for a group that got no respect from the hipsters or the critics. And yes it actually did beat out “Free Bird”, which came in somewhere around number 5 as I recall, though my source (a dimly remembered top 100 countdown I listened to on a labor day road trip in 1989) may not be definitive.

Oh and I just realized most of you won’t get the “Free Bird” reference, ask your parents or grandparents. Requesting Free Bird was kind of a running gag back in the day. You could call it a vocal meme or perhaps a “pre-meme” since the concept hadn’t been invented yet.

The Free Bird proto-meme is still alive and well today, trust me.

Friends of mine work as musicians part-time. Their response to shouts of ‘Freebird!’ when they ask for requests is to flip off the requester while announcing “No charge.” Which usually gets a laugh from the audience.

Freebird was used as the music for the notorious Church fight scene from Kingsman.

Guys, next set of characters we vote on needs to have Anti-Madeline and probably Stabs. Knives and explosions. What could go wrong?

Most likely a “Lay on Hands” or “Cure Wounds” spell as both are a touch spell.
