Maybe Tiffany’s uncharacteristic spark of selflessness and courage will be the inspiration the little bellhops need to bug up and free Rusty?

Worse, they are Rusty’s fans, and she called him a PET.

Hey, L6-23, Tiffany flat-out admitted that she “done caught a bad cassse of empathy” when the vampires used the Pyrhon of Merrshaulk on her (and her colony).

Guess they are all prisoners of their “tone” device

      That was terrible. Well done.

…and y’know, come to think of it, the myrmarchs are probably not always this evil. If the Speak & Spell is controlling them, then they ARE prisoners of their own device. Maybe Y-T and that Sherlock Holmes intellect of hers will deduce how to break the artifact’s hold on the Myrmarch, and her mind will be Tiffany-untwisted.

Hey, if she takes the place over afterwards, I know I’d be down for bed and breakfast at Tiffany’s.

The comic is cake, and the comments are delicious icing.

I just noticed that the glass of wine in the bellhop’s hands seems to be shaking (panel 3), though the rest of his body is stable. Props to that bellhop; if I happened to be within 5 feet of that myrmarch, I’m not sure I’d be able to stop my legs from taking me further than 5 feet away. Much, much further.

Why are myrmidachs so scary to the bellhops?

This one is probably scary because she’s been corrupted by the artifact, and is turning Evil.

(He’ll still obey, because Lawful, but still…)

So last strip she treated Rusty as a person and tried to flatter him, now she’s calling him a pet? Yeah, that’s really gonna win him over.

I’m sure the marketeers would call it a Spell & Cast in-universe.

Further more, I also wouldn’t be surprised if it was “Theron’s” device. Theron as a pun on “their own device” from the song. Theron O. Kuntz worked with Gary Gygax and was the creator of the Beholder in Dungeons and Dragons. Beholders have the power to turn to stone (“transmute flesh to stone”) with their gaze in addition to other spells, depending on what kind they are. So much pun!!

Maybe this is late in coming, but it just occurred to me that TRANSMUTE ROCK TO MUD only works on unworked (i.e. naturally shaped) stone. That ceiling does not look like unworked stone. I’m pretty sure that restriction was put in place specifically to prevent the spell from being used against castles and other fortified structures. So in this case we need to assume the spell has been subject to a house rule that it *does* affect worked stone. Probably doesn’t work on something with imbued magic though. Gotta limit the spell somehow.
