I do love the way you’re following the song. It has me curious about how it will end!

it’ll end the traditional way: in tears.

Speaking of which, I just noticed that the myrmarch’s abdomen is jewel-encrusted. I’m guessing that’s an allusion to “Tiffany-twisted”. I don’t know how he’ll manage to fit Mercedes Benz in, though.

Mercedes is also the name of a class of ship. The name of their escape vehicle named Benz perhaps? Or the name of one of the entranced sorceresses? And on being freed, she casts a spell that gives the ant lady the bends.

Maybe one guard is named Mercades and the other is named Benz.

      What do you mean: “end”?

After all, you can check out any time you like – but you can never leave.

I love how from the inside, the pillar just appear to be part of the structure and decor… but when viewed from the outside, it looks like a prison, instead.

Is there a missing word or phrase in the last panel?
“Is for us to away all those bad memories tormenting you.”
“Is for us to [take? chase? put?] away all those bad memories tormenting you.”

        Glad I could help!

I love the out-of-focus sparkles surrounding the dancers. Very nice touch. And kudos on picking the one temptation that might actually appeal to Maddie!

C’mon, Maddie! Think how fun it’ll be working through those bad memories with that hunk, Derrick! You can resist this!

We could all use a little nepenthe for the soul.

Funny coincidence: when I Googled nepenthe, I discovered that there’s a restaurant by that name… in California.

I bet people google it often ‘cause they’re always forgetting where it is.

I’ve been there, it’s a very interesting place. On the coast just barely outside a National Park, it’s over a small cliff. The view is spectacular. One of the most interesting things is that if you order something, they will let you sit there all day and never bother you about ordering more. Steinbeck and other famous authors, from nearby Monterrey, used to meet there and basically hold court. I loved to visit the place when I lived out there.

Maddie, why are you sniffing the Myrmarch for evil? I mean, she’s clearly friendly; she even calls all those pretty, pretty boys her friends.

Ooh, is that what she was doing? I thought she was tearing up a little at the reminder of the scars (and how she got them).
In other news, this is the most incredible song-fic I have ever read.

I think it’s officially time to find the passage back to the place we were before. And find another song to overquote.

Guess the Mymarch doesn’t register as evil, otherwise Maddy would probably already be in attack mode. Maybe some effect of the artifact?

Formians are Lawful Neutral, not Evil. Generally LN Outsiders like Formians are far less likely to step out of the bounds of their alignments than Outsiders of any other alignment. So I kind of doubt the Myrmarch is evil per se, but she is definitely being set up as the antagonist.

Just about any alignment can be used as a Villain/ Antagonist if you take their ideals/alignment to the extreme. a good example would be the Caterpillar from Gigax’s ‘Dungeonland’ module. He would smoke his hookah and try to slwoly mind control your characters to forcibly change alignment and become TN, basically making you a self-serving hedonist and keeping you with him forever. he was ALSO TN.

What is under the cloth is a device to take away all of her painful memories. Another anti-madeline device! However, with even less evil inside here, it would make a mini anti-madeline…anti-madeline’s “little” sister? LOL

The hand on her head in the last panel makes it look like she has horns, like she’s being corrupted with desire.
