    Self-fulfilling prophecy, anyone?

And then Stabs shanks Derek and releases the inner evil he has contained within himself.

    I love this outcome!

“So… you’re going to use your ton of RANKS in Tumble to break the fall?”
“Then I’m going to use a ton of DESK in your backs, to break you all.”

So, how the heck does Ms. Bai figure that DEREK owe her a new desk? He didn’t force her to toss her old one down a hole. That was her call.

I do hope Derek has something like Protection from normal weapons in effect. Backstabs can be lethal.

She’s doing some work for him? Since he can’t ask Maddie to investigate the prophecy this time.

Maybe the trap was set to toss the desk after whover got dropped down first. In that case, it wouldn’t be her call.

Derek has been pacifist to a fault. He rather disliked Dorilys sliding a cake to trip someone who was trying to kill him, and thought it was inappropriate for him to inform Mimic that the Games were still ongoing. Does he think spells that reflect damage aren’t suitable for him? Hope he has Sanctuary.

While Dorilys implied that she does not have the Vow of Nonviolence, has she committed any acts that would break the Vow? The Vow does not apply to harm against Mimics, so even if hoisting Mimic against a wall counted as violence it won’t break the Vow. She’s also tripped a hostile attacker, and tickled someone’s nose to cause a long chain of actions that led to a would-be assassin stabbing himself. In the former, she may not have meant for the hammer to fall on the troll’s head, only to trip him and disrupt his attack. In the latter, she may not have specifically wanted the noble wannabe to stab himself. She knew it would disrupt his assassination, but could have been aiming to knock the poison dagger out of his hands, for example.

Then again, as the story progresses and Dorilys performs more and more questionable actions, her not having the Vow at all will prevent questions on how she kept the Vow, even on technical terms.

Dorilys explicitly said the that vow was HIS, not HERS.

Those who take a Vow of Nonviolence tend to be rather difficult to actually attack.

With that prophecy, I’m willing to bet that she’s in place to apprehend any Doogans she finds.

Here’s hoping Derek’s devious enough to technically fulfill the prophecy without negative consequences by some means. It’s not as if he can stop the prophecy from coming to pass; maybe he has a lesser evil for them to free and a plan to deal with it immediately.

I guess Mrs. Bai didn’t take the vow of non-violence, either.

No, no, no. No evils are getting freed here.

The evil will free the Doogan, you see.

I don’t see how attacking what is probably a VERY high level cleric is going to go well for Stabs there…

Something tells me she might agree. The sweat on her temple is reminiscent of the kind a certain blackguard is known to produce in spades when faced with a tense situation.
