100% guarantee that’s gonna bite them later.

Agreed. They’ll come to Rue this decision.

Yeah, those elves were last year’s champs for a very good reason.

Their captain didn’t want healing, and these elves are takin quite a beating. What if getting thoroughly violenced benefits them somehow?

Avenger is a class (prestige class sometimes, depending on ruleset) that is usually associated with dark elves and usually works along the idea the more wounded you are, the more powerful you are.

I mean, some games/settings/rulesets/whatever else make avenger something completely different, so YMMV.

Recall though that Mimic is watching the game still (and for the same purpose that they’re going to spy on other teams for). He’s likely to find out whatever relevant info is needed (if any) about the elves.

Well, his perception is hearing based and he’s far away from the game. I don’t think he could discover anything that any of the spectators couldn’t.

      I’m with you.

In fact, I’d go far to say that there’s almost no point in looking at the other teams. Rue Lily is the one to watch out for.

I never thought I’d be rooting rambunctiously for the Wraiths.

I suppose that means you’re not Rueting for the opposition.

Maybe that thing that fancy guy gave Roxanne was some sort of anti-wraith chant? He might be sabotaging things in the Green Sox’s favor.

Also, I was just poking through the monster guide on this site, and was that a Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup reference in the human entry?

His speech bubbles have corkscrews. That would be entirely too simple.

Petey? If that’s referring to everyone’s favorite barbarian, seems an odd way to shorten his name.

I would have gone with “Robby”, but “Petey” got the point across…

      He’s been called Petey before.

The “Pierre” in “Robespierre” is the French version of “Peter.” (And “stone.”)

Wow, when the said pitch king they mean it. That is one wicked fast ball.

Kris and Dirk: Are they levitating in the last picture? Kind of “House of Flying Daggers”…?

“Climb walls” would necessarily entail “cling to walls” as an ability

I still don’t get the joke for Rue Lily’s name. [:P]

… There is a joke, right?

Her team is getting punched through walls

Rue is a somewhat shrubby evergreen plant and a Lilly is a white flower (of course). Best I can come up with is that she’s pretty on the outside but a stunted bush inside. Not really a joke though.

It sounds vaguely like “woah nellie”, which was a catch phrase of famous football announcer Keith Jackson, but he was also well known as a baseball commentator as well.

The joke is that her team presently seems to be getting walloped.

Stabs’ (possibly prematurely presumptuous) assessment is that the elves will get clobbered, meaning there’s no point looking her up when breaking into the Games’ offices.

No man can defeat the Pitch King… but that team is all elves. As the awakened dire bear yogi said, “it is not over until it is over.”

It’s not a real competition until someone tries to cheat.

Remember back in 8-19, when Draco stomped one of the Green team in practice, and they viciously insulted Roxy when she tried to help? They REALLY don’t want anyone giving them medical attention, ever. Definitely suspicious.
