Mimic didn't get points for that experience because it was part of his backstory.

The bug is confused about these feelings since his heart’s gotten rusty from lack of use.

Depsite the name, rust monsters don’t actually rust their metallic food, and they can eat gold

They do indeed rust any and all metal, even ones that can’t actually rust, as they require rust for sustenance. They have a supernatural ability to do so. It’s…it’s complicated.

Though Gold doesn’t oxidize (or “rust”) naturally, Gold oxides exist (Gold (III) oxide being the most stable). So gold oxide can be made, under extreme conditions. I shall assume Rust Monsters can provide these extreme conditions, because otherwise science is broken. And we can’t have that.

*Sigh* We’ve had this argument before. Magic, fantasy, and humor won. Science lost and is crying in a corner somewhere accompanied by logic and probability

Ah! That explains why we haven’t seen the skill even when it seems it would be useful.

Part of his backstory? (breaking out the old musical saw and bow — play “misty” or is it “Rusty” now? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPsgwhxrTWA&list=RDVPsgwhxrTWA#t=12)

You know, when Stabs isn’t grimacing or scowling and actually lets her features soften up, she looks kinda cute.
