Uh oh, the next team in the playoffs looks a lot harder to beat. And they have their own Rusty as well.

Calling it now, it’s ether a love interest for rusty or his worst enemy.

Harpy, Mummy, Eddercap, Lizardman, Geodude, Minotaur, and Rust Monster (Drama Senses point to female).

i believe that is a Xorn. an earth elemental with multiple limbs, a hunger for gemstones, and has the unique ability i call anti-jesus (swimming through earth in a sense). They are weak to my druids “entngle” spell. Long story

It’s a Galeb Duhr (earth elemental of a sorts, basically a rock with tiny appendages). Not very famous, but has been in D&D since forever.

I’d say Drago is some kind of dragon-kin to me, rather than lizardman. The name suggests it, for starters, and the frilled head also looks dragonish.

Actually Drago, Harpy and Mummy also look quite female, and the minotaur hints at it. Could well be a all girls team. Even if I don’t know if rocks gender themselves more than gelatinous cubes do.

the names aren’t suggesting an all female team, though.

Correct. Byron is definitively a name for a broody male berserker, with a taste for axeplay and angst.

Not sure about Drago, Galeb or Trapweaver. Maybe more male than female for the former two, and I’ll let you get close and ask the latter one (I’m sort of freaked out by spiders. Especially tall, bipedal ones).

I would peg Drago as a dragonborn, lightning-spitting type. Call it a hunch.

Drago is a common and very much masculine yugoslavian name.

Checking on the characters’ names, I found this about the mummy:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nephthys

Very appropriate (and yes, definitively a ‘she’). Uh, did she get the number “0” on her shirt? (it could be a 6 or 8, hidden by her scarf)

Not sure about the rocky guy.

For some reason, I’m currently experiencing flashbacks of an ancient TV cartoon series, Cobra (the one with the psychogun, based on Buichi Terasawa’s manga, not the movies with Sylvester). More precisely the rug-ball episodes.
(tend to NSFW if you decide to look it up)

tl;dr: I’m hooked, the author got style.

A search for “Galeb Dan” brought up this:
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soko_G-2_Galeb

Well, more precisely, it brought up an Indonesian blog from 2011 about military hardware. According to Google Translate, “dan” in this context means “and”.

Oh LOL, not one of those 😀 we have these rusting away in our country, which also produces/produced them… but anywhoo, Galeb Dan is a Galeb Duhr, evil earth elemental critter which resemble a stoky, small character. They had their five minutes of fame when they absolutely wrecked my party in computer version of TOEE.

Galeb Duhr are not generally evil-aligned. Like most elementals (outside of a certain Temple), they tend to be Neutral, although Galebs specifically are basically to rocks what Treants are to trees. So they lean a little more Goodish in inclination, provided you define the rocks they’re protecting as “the innocent”.

That other Rust Monster triggers me. Same species, same powers, contrasting color schemes, part of a team of definite threats…I’m getting massive flashbacks of the fights against Axel Gear in Rocket Knight Adventures. Seriously, that’s the only member of their team that I’m completely scared of.

Harpies are fliers but they’re not physically powerful, and her best talent would cripple her own team. Stabs can deal with her pretty easily. Actually, Stabs could take out more than half of Drago’s team unless they’re also sitting on class levels. (Refer to the last frame in 4-21 of the archives. She’s on par with GC against anything with a spine.)

I’d say flying is a major advantage all by itself, *especially* when nobody on the opposing team can fly. She’d be out of reach of being tackled or tagged with the ball, she wouldn’t trigger any ground-level traps, and she could intercept the ball midair.

“Do you know what we call fliers on the battlefield? Skeet.”

Stabs would take it as a challenge to perforate the harpy midair.

While the alt text would indicate otherwise, I wish that rusty had simply joined multiple teams without telling anyone.

Definitely imagining Drago voiced by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Robespierre voiced by Andre the Giant.
