Now for the important question: where’s the real ball?

Wait, so why are the Trolls attacking each other? Do they think that one of them (rather than the ball) is Mimic? Because I thought Mimics can’t do creatures.

The catcher needs to throw the ball (presumably) to get an out.

However, the ball seems extraordinarily sticky, and the catcher can’t get it out of his hand. Or hands, when he grabs it with a second. His teammates think he’s screwing around, and are trying to get the ball out of his hand, and they’ll get stuck to it too. Note how the pitcher can’t get his hand off it.

Um I’m pretty sure the ball is not a bomb but is actually mimic finally using his adhesive skin ability.

In this case, the actual presence of explosives is irrelevant, seeing as how there’s about to be a scrum consisting solely of trolls who can’t let go of the ball.

You think Gnome Baseball is dangerous, try introducing Rugby to the mix!

If they can’t get their hands off the ball, they just need some help getting their hands off their arms, right? They’re trolls, they’ll grow back.

First they have to engage their brains and work out that it’s not the ball.

Actually the “hack arms off and throw” is probably the reason for why the catcher pulls back in defence when the other troll comes a-yelling. It might be the best solution to get a sticky ball moving, but that doesn’t mean it won’t hurt like the dickens.

Where is the adhesive skin ability coming from? Is it just an accepted ability of Mimics, or is it refferenced in an earlier comic that I don’t remember?

    • The Grand User
      September 7, 2016, 3:17 pm | # | Reply

It’s an accepted ability, seeing that this is all based on D&D

      “Adhesive (Ex)
A mimic exudes a thick slime that acts as a powerful adhesive, holding fast any creatures or items that touch it. An adhesive-covered mimic automatically grapples any creature it hits with its slam attack. Opponents so grappled cannot get free while the mimic is alive without removing the adhesive first.
A weapon that strikes an adhesive-coated mimic is stuck fast unless the wielder succeeds on a DC 16 Reflex save. A successful DC 16 Strength check is needed to pry it off.
Strong alcohol dissolves the adhesive, but the mimic still can grapple normally. A mimic can dissolve its adhesive at will, and the substance breaks down 5 rounds after the creature dies.”

The look on the troll’s face, and his pose, in the fifth pane strikes my Mad Magazine bone most fiercely. I get strong tremors of vintage Don Martin from it. Well-done, Mike.

Even if they throw the pitcher and umpire, it’s Mimic and it won’t count.:)
