You sure Dirk was up to bat?

All right, who wants to bet that one of the items our trollish friend is reaching for will suddenly grow a pair of lips? Unless Mimic’s being carried by Dirk, which is possible.

My running theory is Mimic was Dirk’s bat and Dirk had a spare bat and fake ball in his bag o’ holding. During the smokescreen, they placed the bat and fake ball down, Mimic changed into Dirk, while Dirk took the real ball and hid. Now Mimic is running to right first base, while Dirk sneaks off to left first base.

I don’t think Mimic can take the shape of a person, or he would have by now in at least one of their other adventures.

Perhaps, but part of Mimic’s plan is to have the smoke trick be the distraction. The trolls are paying attention to the smoke puff with legs, just like before. If the smoke puff with legs is Dirk, what event is Dirk distracting the trolls from?

Maybe it was never as funny before.

But I think the ball is most likely.

My guess is that Dirk has the real ball and the fake ball is Mimic.

          Agreed.

Throw me through the bases, suckas!

          ^..^

Maybe Mimic was the bat before the smoke, and has now shifted to be both the bat and the ball, as I noticed they’re both still together. While Dirk runs off with the real ball

Now, if it was me, and I was that troll catcher, I’d be worried about the ball suddenly ticking. A bait and switch long bomb sounds like just the play the Mountain Giants need.

What happened to Dirk’s glove. Before hitting the ball, he had gloves on both hands. While he is running, you can see that one glove, at least, is missing. Perhaps Mimic was the glove and is now the ball on the plate.

I thought I saw two feet and a hand. I realize my mistake now.

The bat and ball might be Mimic.
The halfling might be carrying a hot, smokey, torch.
When fighting trolls, a torch is definitely a weapon.:)
