He’s pretty obviously a coward. He’s shrunk from anything even approaching a fair fight, and brawling with Robspierre wouldn’t only be suicidal on its own, it would draw attention to him in a highly public setting that includes the extremely dangerous princess he hopes to assassinate and previously failed to depose. He’d frankly be lucky if he died at Robspierre’s hand at that point, because Princess would make it much worse.
I suspect he’s extremely uncomfortable with that word “might” (the version that’s pronounced like there’s an N in there somewhere…he probably loves the other kind of might, since it doubtless makes right in his eyes).
Is there any evidence for that though? In the past we’ve seen him 1: decide not to fight Rusty and Cube. 2: run away from a magic nuke. And 3: say that he doesn’t want to fight Princess. People take that to mean he’s cowardly, but I’d just call them “not suicidal”.
Not to mention that there is a rather familiar looking rust monster and gelatinous cube very near said barbarian…

My guess would be that she is some sort of drunken fist maybe prestiged as a drunken master, which also explains the chaotic approach to things.
