Oh yeah, I saw it too … they would have had an advantage if two of their teammates didn’t just flee in horror … 😉

I see Rusty is already looking forward to the first match, but can he really dissolve metal faster than sawblades are spinning? Even if he instantly dissolved them upon contact, shouldn’t there still be some blunt trauma from the impact of the metal?

Wait, I forgot to leave my physics in the wardrobe again. I’m sorry!

We’ve seen him rust arrows in mid-flight, so a spinning sawblade might not pose a threat.

Of course, we’ve seen him not notice an arrow through his head, too… so a spinning sawblade might not pose a threat for other reasons.

He also ate a spear in mid-thrust. Bonus points for his sound effect parrying the spear’s sound effect.

“Rust (Ex): A rust monster that makes a successful touch attack with its antennae causes the target metal to corrode, falling to pieces and becoming useless immediately. The touch can destroy up to a 10-foot cube of metal instantly. Magic armor and weapons, and other magic items made of metal, must succeed on a DC 17 Reflex save or be dissolved. The save DC is Constitution-based and includes a +4 racial bonus.
A metal weapon that deals damage to a rust monster corrodes immediately. Wooden, stone, and other nonmetallic weapons are unaffected.”

Thing is… Rust Monsters can SMELL metal, have Scent and Track!
Kinda hard to get a drop on him. ^..^

I’m noticing that it mentions weapons that deal damage to a rust monster, so the saw blades might each wound Rusty once before they’re destroyed. Good thing the only hit point that matters is the last one, right?

Maybe I don’t think like a D&D-player but how do items (even magic ones) pass reflex saves?

Also, a 28.3 m³ block of (any) metal dissolved instantly is really impressive (that’s over 200 tons of steel or almost 550 tons of gold (which is notoriously hard to dissolve)).

I thought Mimic could see. Now I’m confused.

He doesn’t have any eyes, though.

Well, I mean he might still have one big one, but he’s definitely not using it.

Iron-ically, I’m trying to think of puns and finding myself a bit rusty.

I like Robespierre’s reaction. Less “Oh my Gods, I’m gonna die!” and more “Hmm. That’s unexpected. Could be a challenge.”

Agreed. I am liking Robespierre more and more through the development he’s getting from this arc.

Wow. Have we actually seen Stabs rattled before? I’m pretty sure every other time she’s just got mad. Even when she was grabbed by that magnet in the undercircus, and I think that was the worse situation she’s been in.
