Level 8: #22
Two announcements for today!
First, we had several excellent submissions for the Rusty & Co. fan art contest, and the Knights of the Ruined Table have selected two winners! Congratulations go to Vinyadan and dmalmu for getting the most votes, and each will receive a Rusty plush! A big thanks and a Gnome-Prize to everyone who entered:

To see the entries from all past contests, check out the Fan Art page.
Secondly, today’s strip marks the end of a Patreon cycle, so if you’d like to receive the current set of perks, please take a look at the Rusty & Co. Patreon Page and join up! Special considerations go to the cameo tier, where you receive your character appearing in the comic itself!
Miss Casbaugh doesn’t seem to have a lot of good words for her brother, does she?
I don’t see how exactly she is “helping”, right now.
He’s helping Robispiere build up anger to release for his rage.
Rusty’s uniform. Dear god, Rusty’s uniform.
Mimic doesn’t even get one…
You put uniforms inside the chest, not outside.
Edna Mode from The Incredibles isn’t in here, so no magically elastic uniform built to withstand all kinds of transformations with no negative downsides.
Because if she was here then no one would be wearing a cape.
But no one IS wearing a cape…
Also, puns are all well and good, but “Hammer Robbie” just sounds terrible. It should have been “Robbie the Hammer” – harder for anyone to figure out, but that just means they’ll feel more clever when they do.
Robbie the Hammer, with his team populated entirely by clones of himself
Don’t be silly Aslandus. They aren’t clones. These are his siblings: Morris, Dresden “Dres”, and Jennifer Jr. His other teammates include Lee Gaul, Neo Paul Leon-Nick, Cedric Crit, and Conner Pewter.
This is now canon.
The Code of Hammurabi? I didn’t get that until you pointed out that the name was something to be figured out.
Rusty:”Eat bat?”
No more aluminum bats!
“Eat Hammer?”
Rusty:”Eat bat?”
This is why we don’t use aluminum bats!
The puns/references on this page are overwhelming… I don’t know if panel 2 or panel 4 was worse 😛
(but that’s why we all read isn’t it?)
T-rho-L, really?
Magnificent.
Is that a Warforged in the audience?
Now I want to see Rusty on an adventure with one! “Eat Fighter?”
I believe so.
The other colored figures look familiar, too, but I have some trouble figuring them out. Assuming these are characters to figure out.
Is it Carmen Sandiego, under the big feathered hat?
Patreon cameos?
They all do look familiar, but I can’t definitely place a name to any of them. Carmen sounds reasonable for the pink feathered hat lady, and the guy beside the construct reminds me of Orc Dave from Rat Queens.
Warforged tend to be made primarily of wood, IIRC. The metal tends to be either armor plating or decorative filigree, so eating it wouldn’t likely kill the WF, just debride his exterior surface a bunch. Rude, but not as bad as if he did it to a Modron or Inevitable (assuming these are made of metal to at least the same extent that angels and fiends are made of flesh, which is debatable in both directions)
Did you really just make a pun about a 4000 year old Mesopotamian legal code?!
Oh crap, I just noticed that. Good catch, sir!
“Hammurabi code” for anyone that doesn’t get it
When Anu the Sublime, King of the Anunaki, and Bel, the lord of Heaven and earth, who decreed the fate of the land, assigned to Marduk, the over-ruling son of Ea, God of righteousness, dominion over earthly man, and made him great among the Igigi, they called Babylon by his illustrious name, made it great on earth, and founded an everlasting kingdom in it, whose foundations are laid so solidly as those of heaven and earth; then Anu and Bel called by name me, Hammurabi, the exalted prince, who feared God, to bring about the rule of righteousness in the land, to destroy the wicked and the evil-doers; so that the strong should not harm the weak; so that I should rule over the black-headed people like Shamash, and enlighten the land, to further the well-being of mankind.
Would love to know exactly what this is a quote from.
clears throat
The Code of Hammurabi
Someone get Frodo a crate to stand on. He can’t see over the inner stadium wall. They need crenelations. 🙂
Is that Eörache, daughter of Eörlobe is the stands?
Technically since we never saw her sing, the game may never have ended….
So, no comic this week?
The Twitter account says it will be a little late this week.
For the true fans, we say better quality than quantity.
Keep the good work coming, Mike.
Thank you, I appreciate that!
