For being in the same 10x10 cell, Roxy and Rue Lily are doing an excellent job of staying the hell away from this situation.

Heh, grandfather clauses. It seems like the bureaucracy continues.

I would ask how two halflings in a trenchcoat managed to get this far, but your average jail guard has brains favorably comparable to lukewarm tapioca. Not quite as tasty, however.

Depends on your level of zombification…

Weren’t the jail guards the “Knight & Knave” doors?

    No, wait.
This is the cake the Viscount was trolleying/trolling in, in 8-137.

I suspect the situation is about to change suddenly and heads in a unsuspected direction.

      “An evil ‘neath the stade
      a Doogan shall free.”

Two considerations of course is 1) evil =/= competent, and 2) what’s so special about the Viscount’s cake?

      This should get interesting.

There is what looks like a fuse protruding from the top of the cake. OK, it could be a single candle, but I wouldn’t
        bet on it.

And “Mr Purple”, of course, is Sir Malevolus?

And also a possible Reservoir Dogs reference?

At least Stabs had the wits to plead for mercy and not try for denial.

At least we have an explanation of why the last match played out as it did.

Yes. Like most everyone, I had thought that Ms. Bai was taking petty vengeance on the Doogans for being annoying. But it turns out that Ms. Bai was a trap!

      …. Wait, that didn’t come out right….

Bureaucracy wasn’t announced in-scene as the theme, so I’ll call it a win just noticing the lack of traps and such. (Some have friends in low places. I have standards. 😐 )

And lo, t’was at that moment, a prisoners had had not seen cake in years, rose up, shouting lightly, “I AM MR. PURPLE! NO, I’M MR. PURPLE. NO, DON’T LISTEN TO HIM, I AM MR. PURPLE!”

How on earth does one shout “lightly”?

In the fourth panel it says, “I believe *we we* can co-exist….” Is that a wee-wee joke?
