    Old home week!

And Prestige can be warned, since she’s clearly on the list! Wonderful start!

What? Warn PRESTI? Why – Grinner said NOTHING ABOUT WHO HIRED HIM or WHY he was doing the vengeful things.

If anything, due to the fact that it’s Grinner, Rusty might be more likely to war *Roxy*, since she bested Grinner, and thus would be the obvious conclusion for a nemesis.

…but then, we found out, didn’t we? >:)

We saw at the end of chapter 6 that the Tenticalli hired Grinner to get revenge on the ones who foiled them (Presti and the “main party”).

no, she said barbs and hooks, and that clearly counts as a hook (thought we don´t know if rusty´s a barb)

I’m pretty sure only one of those is a lock. The other two are just metal bands to hold the door together.

I thought the same thing at first, too. Look underneath the door handle on the 2nd panel, there are 3 key holes.

Does this put all of the team’s companions, minus the princess, in one room at the same time? This could be one epic chapter.

      July 24, 2013, 4:25 pm | # | Reply

      Yup.

and it will probably involve Roxy casting that spell at a dramatic moment.

        July 24, 2013, 6:31 pm | # | Reply

I’m not sure. Prestige can take the spell to the face with just minor discomfort, and she’s of a flimsy class. I think we’ve merely been showed that Roxy can use spells now (since she didn’t during level 3).

Yeah, but did you see her running and taking hits back in Chapter 5? She clearly made Constitution a high priority.

I didn’t say it would do anything useful. Just that it would be cast.

It blew the door off the Proverbial Hook, that’s pretty significant. My guess is Prestige either had a protection spell up, a sensible precaution when teaching a noob, or wasn’t in the direct line of fire.

Clearly, the door is still on by panel 6. It just bulged a bit as recoil to the spell.

Given the look on proxy’s face, and the fact that she’s the one teaching the spell, chances are it’s probably a dazzle spell of some kind.

I was thinking Color Spray, except that it’s not on the bard spell list. Flare, however, is: a cantrip creating a burst of light that dazzles a single target if cast directly in front of them. Only problem is that it has no somatic component, but I think we can chalk that up to artistic license.

I think it’s shout. If you look at panel two, her dialogue is big and bold, with some wave looking things. It wouldn’t cause Presti much physical harm, visibly at least, and I think it fits a bard pretty well.

I think it’s ‘cup your hands around your mouth to yell louder’, based on the description, results, and position of Roxy’s hands. 😉

This is going to be one epic party. Lots of classes and abilities to mess up the baddies… and get the princess involved and baddies are going to run for their lives.

Side note: has Rusty ever been attacked by an Iron or other metal golem aside from that animated Statue back in level 1??? I kind of want to see if a metal golem is smart enough to run for its unlife when faced with a rust monster.

You know after draging her all this way, bleeding, unconcious, and whith nearly no hit points left, shouldn’t she be dead or is it just my unreasonable logistics side poping up again, because I hace a problem with that.

    • Ed8
      July 24, 2013, 11:54 pm | # | Reply

Being dragged at the relatively slow pace of a rust monster walking carefully with a heavy burden would probably only cause a fraction of a hit point of damage at any time, but since there is no such thing as a fraction of a hit point (from what I can recall), anything that causes less than a full hit point of damage at once, causes no damage at all! In our universe, there’s “death by 1000 cuts”, but in a hit point universe, so long as none of the cuts are enough to cause a full hit point of damage in any given round, you should receive no harm at all from a million cuts (nor from being slowly dragged)

          July 25, 2013, 10:27 am | # | Reply

Exactly. Or the fact that, so long as the weapon’s maximum damage doesn’t exceed your hit points, it is impossible for a single weapon strike to kill you, even if you are stabbed directly through the heart with a sword, or an arrow penetrates your brain! I wish our universe had hit points.

Or alternatively, if the damage isn’t enough to kill you, then it wasn’t a hit to the heart or CNS. Which makes more sense?

I assume she managed to stabilise in time.. leaving her unconscious, but in no immediate danger of bleeding to death.

There were 4, actually more than 4 angels. Kate, Farrah, and Jacklyn. With Cheryl and Tanya joining later as the cast chaged over time. And do you expect stabs to leave her bar unattended after all the trouble she went through getting the money to buy the hook?

Not at all, we’re not anti-halfling bigots here. (Sam’s girlfriend in LotR would definitely rate as a halfling-hottie, for example.) I think it’s more that Stabs was never a “Featured partner” for any of the levels, more of a guest star or cameo appearance

I hope they don’t bring the Princess along. Don’t get me wrong, she’s a great character, but if she comes along the bad guys have -no prayer-, and there’s no drama in that! A-heh. A-heh a-heh.

Second comment; this is the real, hidden benefit of being Good-aligned rather than what is euphemistically called “Chaotic Neutral” – a Good-aligned party makes enough friends along the way that when they themselves end up in big trouble, they can call for help and help will come. Not that I’m saying Cube or Mimic are necessarily Good-aligned; this is more of a general rule.

I feel a little slow for how long it took me to understand why Stabs is upset in panel 5. Who the heck knocks on the door of a bar instead of just coming inside? A guy with no hands, apparently. 🙂

I thought that was aimed at Roxy and Prestige. They just said she wouldn’t get any walk-ins, and Stabs thought to prove them wrong.
