Still 10 in the morning — it’s gotta be a plot hook! Cause it’s sure not a barbarian.

I agree. I think the Dog Soldier is a plot hook and not one of gnolls.

He does look an awfull lot like the other gnolls, though.

A “Battlepug”? Naw. Scout? Ranger? A big cutie anyways. But, yeah, I’m not a fan of drool either.

One of Grinner’s gnolls, I’d say from the general build. Hadn’t heard of a Pug-Faced Gnoll before, but then, I don’t get out much.

Nah, tracker for hire, thus the pug face.

Hehe the pug-gnoll is so cute! You can also fight them in Mabinogi but they don’t look as adorable. 😛

He drooled on it? For a personal touch?

Of course! He’s a dog. (OK, a dog-type-humanoid) To a dog, the more he drools on you, the more that means he loves you!

Yes,but wouldn’t it ruin the brochure?

          This is mostly the joke.

I know it’s mostly the joke, but how are you supposed to read the brochure if it’s really soggy?

          • Ed8

Nobody said it was “really soggy” – just that it had some drool on it – it would take an awful lot of drool for it to be soggy, and it would probably have to soak in the drool for a while – he just drooled on it a few seconds ago. Regardless, it’s a plot hook, so it will always be legible – it’s an inherent property that cannot be removed by physical damage nor magic.

Judging by those gloves, he’s probably a great pugilist.

If he’s a pugilist then wouldn’t he be a boxer, rather than a pug? O.o

It is Pugnacious the BattlePug gnoll. 😛

I don’t see why he would be a gnoll. Gnolls are Hyena-like, not dog-like. Despite a vague similarity, real-life hyenas are actually more closely related to cats than to dogs.

Besides, how could a face like that possibly be evil?

Depends on whose gnolls. The original gnolls were hybrids of gnomes and trolls.

He reminds me of Moblins from the first two Legend of Zelda games.

I have seen several D&D-adjacent works, such as a formerly free video game whose name I forget, present the idea of gnolls being wolf-like rather than hyaenoid.

This warrior must have just arrived from the realms of Pugmire. Perhaps he traveled along the Redwall Road.
