She had an eye open for a moment there!

To be sure, landing rather than fighting. . . .

Wow, Madeline is looking quite injured there. But she’s a paladin. Sometimes you got to save the world, but not always for you.

Perhaps not, but ‘Cube ate all’ is quite accurate.

Cube is leaping the attack in the best samurai style, right on Madeline’s heels. That may pose a complication.

Not sure about where Rusty is (last we saw him he fell into the game. But look at the Elder God sound effects:
Plang, klank, and tink, all of the parry sounds, are metal on metal…

So Rust might be inside that thing eating away… sweet. First Eldritch Abomination to be eaten from the inside out.

Why not? After all, no one stays dead here — why should only the minor characters have all the fun?

Isn’t fighting back a little mainstream? Wouldn’t it be totally original if the horrific eldritch abomination just let itself get killed?

Isn’t losing to mainstream? Wouldn’t it be more original if the good guys lost?

You’re thinking too much in the mainstream boundries of mind. The eldrich abomination will not win or lose, but take another option, there’s one with this really obscure number, you probably haven’t heard of it.

This is kinda just a random thought I had. Since it happened earlier with, coins I think, couldn’t Rusty go all “Eat Artifact?” since it’s gold and thus banish the creature? *DM plot device switch off* curses if I have inadvertently spoiler-ed.

I don’t know. Do artifacts work. like.. that…
      …
      Never mind.

Rusty is a *rust* monster; if the artifact had IRON in it, this might be a viable idea, but gold (or brass? We’re not told specifically what it’s made of; just appears yellow-y) gold is often prized for its resistance to corrosion…

They prefer iron-based metals, but they can eat anything metallic. Like the time when Rusty was lured over a bridge by throwing a coin

Just found this site, and am getting caught up, but this stuff is great! I hadn’t thought about a rust monster in years. Thanks for helping me find my inner nerd again…

So a Ditz Paladin and a Gelatinous Cube Samurai leap into melee with an elder god wielding metal tentacles. SO. AWESOME!

I just hope that Cube doesn’t lose his levels in Samurai when this is done. He looks awesome with a cone hat, skirt and katana. (Well, at his size it’s a katana. To anyone else, probably a nodaichi.)

Well, the sword did get sliced up a little in the second-to-last panel, so it’s probably about the size of a katana now.
