As Bill Crosby would say… “I thought that’s what an accident was… First you say it… then you do it.”

Bing Crosby or Bill Cosby– who are we talking about? I just can’t see Bing (seriously, who names their kid Bing?) saying that.

“Bing” was a nickname earned when he started as a singer with a jazz/big band. His name was Harry.

I’m going to GUESS that she found “essence of squid” at some point and covered herself in it. Must smell nasty, not that the Mimic would know.

D&D 4e cantrip Prestidigitation can “generate an odor” so it would be applicable in this way.

Hm. I wonder what this would translate to in reality. Canning odd-smelling substances, perhaps?

“This has at least a 35% chance of working” – hah! I do that all the time in games too, of course every probability of anything working is in discrete 5% increments!

I guess she’s taking into account a likely +2 bonus (+10%) for the “bluff a scent” cantrip along with her bluff and the security troglodytes not being very bright.

In reality I suppose you could eat a lot of seafood and expel the gases so produced at the proper moment…

Is it just me, or would it have made a lot more sense for the MIMIC to, y’know, MIMIC a mind-flayer and our prestidigitating guest-star to play the part of the blank-eyed thrall?

I’m not saying it would have been funnier: just that it would’ve had more than a 35% chance of success. 😛

Mimics can only appear to be inanimate objects, not creatures. Doppelgangers and phasms are much higher CR.

Squid? SQUID? Doesn’t anyone recognize a Mind Flayer?

But y’know, it does make me wonder how Mind Flayer would taste if prepared calamari-style . . . can the Mimic take the form of a functional deep fryer?

Given that ‘flayers are often affectionately refered to as “squid faces”, I’d wager the above posters knew EXACTLY what they were talking about with their comments.

Mind flayers are mauve-fleshed alien horrors with only a coincidental resemblance to squid. I wouldn’t recommend eating them, not even if you’re part of the Delicious in Dungeon crew.

See those ‘Security’ wife-beaters the grimlocks are wearing? That’s exactly the kind of apparel the Cube ought to have been wearing back during the Rock Concert chapter. I’m just sayin’.

Love the way you changed the font to indicate voice mimicry.

    I’m guessing that she farted.
