That might have been one of the smartest disguises Mimic ever used.

    Until the unfortunate prostate exam.

Well, Mimic can say he is plugged in to sound now. Ow.

And I’m thinking suddenly how perfect Juliette Lewis would be for Princess.

      It’s all about magic, Cero.

Also, this gives “plugging in” a different meaning.

You seem to think it didn’t already get used like that. 😛

Electricity is a natural force. It’s been a known thing in our world for almost 4000 years (the earliest known records are from ~2300 *BC*) and has existed as long as Earth has, if not probably longer. It’s not something that needs to be invented or the like.

True, but the technology to be capable of usefully channeling it without destroying whatever you’re trying to power, and/or frying the person installing it, is extremely recent.

What science can do once under laboratory conditions, at prohibitive expense, is very different from what science can do reliably and safely and cost-effectively. This is frankly a good explanation for medieval stasis in most d&d worlds… their equivalent of Leonardo or Gutenberg was eaten by a wandering monster, and the superstitious peasants took it as proof that trying to invent anything was witchcraft that makes demons appear (it was actually a Magical Beast but nobody succeeded a Knowledge roll to understand this). So they just stick to what they know for another century or four before anything else might improve matters.

Except for the part where they can LITERALLY CAST LIGHTNING. Like, electricity is literally easy for magic! Not to mention all the alternative methods of power sources in magical settings. It literally seems that every single person in magic settings must be complete morons about basic physics despite being able to craft god-slaying staves of ultimate power.

and mimic learns a valuable lesson about impersonating equipment with plugs 🙂

Confession time: I love “Background Gags” in comics, but it’s sadly a vanishing art form. I also love Silent Scenes. Combine the two and you have pure gold. If not for certain technical difficulties, I would prefer comics that were nothing BUT Silent Scenes in the Background.

And I dunno what Cero’s talking about with that “electricity” crack. Didn’t you see the EyePod commercial? This world’s obviously got an AsprinVerse connection – they just drop by the Bazaar at Deva when they need to pick up a new amp.

Saw Mimic’s identity from the first panel, barely even noticed he was an amp. Also, ouch.

Well not to be that guy but he isn’t a amp. Mimic became a speaker. Maybe he is a combo unit though with the amp control hidden. But all the ones I’ve seen are taller inthat case.

How is Princess poking Cube and not losing her finger?

Same way Madaline stuck her hand in, I guess.

Yeah, but Madeline was wearing gloves. On the other hand, Princess’ finger doesn’t actually seem to be going into Cube, and Cube has demonstrated some degree of control over his digestion.

If Cube could vocalize, he might verbalize as thuslike: “so, do YOU have conscious control over your digestive acids?”
