D’awww. I love Cube and Rusty’s “hug”. I’m also really liking Princess’s new leadership style.
Madeline doesn’t seem very happy about getting her wings. I wonder if she feels guilty/unworthy of them because of what happened in the afterlife? (Luckily, Derek seems to have noticed, so hopefully he’ll talk go her about it!)
Sometimes it’s the simple things; even the bard sometimes needs to get their face-shanking in.
There’s something therapeutic about being in an environment where you’re allowed to gut anyone who pisses you off. Probably explains a large part of the adventuring population, really.
I think she was changed by her experiences while she “disappeared.” After all, she could not just lead by being the princess. Still less could she be a figurehead there. Thus, she acquired more leadership skills.
Reminds me of what was said of a few battles. It was a weird wiki binge, I looked up into one of the original Age of Empires game over messages, “your flesh and bones will make good fertilizer for our crops”, realized I never learned about the Hittites in school so decided to fix that.
Whenever you look into ancient civilizations, you circle back into agriculture, and fertilizers.
Ancient farmers already knew bones helped somewhat so they were always on the lookout for abandoned enough battle sites. Yoink the iron for farming implements, crush the bones and grow crops over it.
Given how things were back then this would be a legit bargaining chip: “Our farmers wait until bone dry and unclaimed before looting and mulching. Favorable negotiations and ceasefire, we’ll give them a decent burial and let you take the remains home. If things worsen, we’ll just plant over them right away”.
The fact the princess just has a stash I’d make a wild guess she was already holding on those for a potential negotiation and hand over remains for whatever rites the bullfrogs might have… attacks haven’t ceased, they haven’t sent a messenger or emissary… hippity hoppity this is now cube and rusty’s property

It’s also the first time in a while that we’ve seen the princess smile.
It may be shock. She earned them back in Level 2
Also, is it me or do Derek’s eyes in panel 1 look off?
Maddie looks pensive
Rusty and Cube are grateful
Roxy wants action
An odd ask. I guess maybe she wants something to take her anger out on in place of Rue?
Maxim 18: If the officers are leading from the front, watch for an attack from the rear.
I too appreciate Princess’s newfound style. I look forward to seeing how they all get bitten in the butt.
RE the alt-text: Yeah, she does look a bit tilted to me.
The princess has a good team, and she is doing her best to motivate them. Recognition and rewards from leadership work.

Is it me, or is there something off about the Princess’ newfound softness and politeness?
I wonder if SHE is getting fungus-checked, too…
Yeah, I also think it’s not really on-character for her.

Exactly. We’re seeing the results of character development.
It always goes great for negotiations when you desecrate the enemy dead by eating them and steal the gear from their bones
