Well… ‘potentially worse than death’ is somewhat difficult to parse given Skippy’s current state of undeath. Given that ‘death’ is generally considered an improvement over ‘undeath’ (souls and all), ‘potentially worse than death’ could be better or worse than his current situation. Besides, if he’s so intent on finding excitement/getting a ‘kick’, he might actually enjoy some actual risk. Unless he’s really so obnoxious to only get his kick out of making other peoples’ lives hell, in which case I don’t particularly care, because bullies like that can, in fact, be considered ‘excessively evil’. Sure, the damage is not immediately visible, but for people who, by their very nature, value stability and order, such ‘harmless pranks’, continued for year after year after year, can cause serious, lasting damage to the psyche and are anything but ‘harmless fun’ (cf. Chinese water torture).
“Annoying” is often considered worse than “excessively evil”… especially by bards, who tend to appreciate proper villainy even when they’re opposing it.
So, did Roxy know that the afterlife is in shambles? If not, this might have been part of the fiends’ plan. Get word out and get people really scared about what comes next?
Also, Skippy seems rather at peace in panel three. That’s not a bad legacy to leave, becoming a legendary trickster.
I completely blanked on names when I wrote my first comment. I meant, do the other elves know? Everyone in Mimic’s party was asked to keep the afterlife issues quiet, and Mimic just blurted it out for the deputy comptroller to hear. Will that have any side effects?
I don’t think he noticed the board. They were careful to not draw attention to it. After all, one last prank, taking it with him to the afterlife. . . and then *everyone* is in trouble

Seems extremely harsh to blindly send Skippy to a fate potentially worse than death, considering he never did anything excessively evil.
However, if they fix the other planes fast enough, it’ll be okay.

That was surprisingly easier than I expected. So other shoe when?
I think both shoes went through the hole.
..Jokes aside, we haven’t heard a ding.

She knows. She was there when Madeline reported her own beyond-death experience. Well, one issue at a time, I guess.

The Deputy Comptroller is Rue Lily, her ditzy secretary is Sweet Alyssa, and the bodyguard is… ahhh…
Hang on let me check the cast page.
/Five Minutes Later
… Dahlia Bombini.
I dunno if it was a good idea to say that in front of the elves.
As she mentioned, elves live a long time. They won’t panic, though they might cynically exploit the panic of shorter-lived species.
It’s okay, they hate that guy too.
After all’s said and done, Skippy was a pretty good sport about letting them have the board and even gave them a “Peace out”.
I don’t think he noticed the board. They were careful to not draw attention to it. After all, one last prank, taking it with him to the afterlife. . . and then *everyone* is in trouble
If the varial stone is in the boiler room, then, wow.
He did say he couldn’t take it with him, though.
He handed it to her.
I love how expressive Skippy’s hat is.
(I also appreciate a return to levity, if that’s the right word. I was personally beginning to feel drained over Skippy’s ‘antics’.)
Let’s hope this is the beginning for a better future for both the elves and Skippy. And perhaps for our protagonists.
Skippy might like the afterlife as it is. I can see him riding one of those giant bug things easily.
Mimic, it was your idea.
Just noticed the elf with the band aid over her nose is the same one that got beaned in the nose by a vial of holy water in plan #1.
