Rue, you’re such an idiot. Finding out how to help a ghost complete their unfulfilled needs and move on is Dealing With Ghosts 101.
Rue is a snob. Treat someone else’s concerns as something that matters? That is not in her nature.
You don’t understand, Rue doesn’t do “helping”. Rue does “yelling, threatening, and stomping her feet and pitching a fit untill the universe does what she wants.”
I have a sneaking impression that Rue knows exactly why the ghost is here, and is refusing to tell them. Maybe “ghost of old college homie”?
Yes, that was my thought as well. Though… do elves form ghosts, normally? It’s possible that Rue never had even the 101-level classes in ghosts.
Lore varies whether elves can become ghosts or not. Female elves are known to becomes banshees at the very least.
Some of them don’t even wait until they’re dead.
Don’t get any ideas lady, he’s a married cube.
Cube’s a real Ladies Ooze. Mimic could learn a thing or two from him.
When did Rusty become Tubba Blubba?
Based on Rusty’s phrasing, I think he might be trying to answer Roxy’s question rather than saying he wants to actually eat the ghost. If Rusty had meant that, he’d be saying ‘Eat ghost’ or ‘Eat ghost?’
I agree. In fact, I have a working theory that the ghost “eats” Rue’s anger/annoyance/embarrassment. The room is “dull” right now because the local elves are getting too used to it, and most of the adventurers aren’t panicking.
Hmm…that raises a good question: can Mimic imitate translucent or semi-transparent materials? Say there’s a bed, chair, or other furniture modeled after gelatinous cubes; could Mimic mimic that?
No Paper Mario fans in the replies? Sad face.
I think the reference and the people understanding what it meant prove that there are, don’t they?
I guess there’s a lesson to be learned here. In a world where ghosts objectively exist and enjoy causing chaos, don’t skimp on the ghost-proofing for your top-security vault!

Though, I could see a jelly spa, “full body facials”, no need ofr waxing when a jelly can just nair your unwanted hair away, etc…
Next thing you know, she’ll start comissioning deviantArtificers to create depictions of her enveloped by surprisingly comfortable jellies, oozes, slimes, etc.
She just needs to find herself a nice Cube to settle down with in another country, like whatever the country it is that Princess runs.
Since she is simply Princess, what if her country is simply Kingdom?

Interesting. I wasn’t aware Cube could decide whether to digest whatever is inside him.
Cube had a phase where he kept organic ‘trophies’ to express himself(critical missives #8), and he’s used wooden weapons before. He has to have control over his digestion to do either of those things.
But can he also provide oxygen? Or does he take her breath away? (80’s, anybody…?)
He probably can’t do that, hence why he’s holding miss elf with her head outside him.
