Wrong elf, mimic, wrong elf.
Perhaps he really did panic and assume a form that seems more natural in the office.
I can believe that.
Yeah, a throne isn’t exactly an unassuming piece of furniture.
That depends on how grandiose your assumptions are. These are elves, after all.

I’m less worried about Roxy getting away with that in Dahlia’s presence, and more about mimic.
I can’t imagine any of them will be telling them that they love him after sitting on his face!
You never know, maybe Dahlia’s into it.
She loved grinding him under her boot…
Well that confirmed what I always suspected about Mimic…he’s a sampler box.
Almost became a boom box more than once, too.
Throw it a tide pod filled with holy water and tell him it’s the new dare.
Holy water squirtgun.
Or, heck, get an air diffuser and fill THAT with holy water. Instant anti-ghost (and anti-vampire) item that can ward a small room!
So, without any prior descriptors, how were Roxy and her companions supposed to actually find the ghost? I mean c’mon, was it really necessary to play the ambiguity game when you could have just said “It’s being haunted by a ghost”? “Ancient undead evil” brings to mind a lich or mummy.
I think the elves were deliberately trying to get rid of them, giving only vague information hoping the heroes would give up and leave.
Shorter lived races are indeed foolish, but they don’t realize how foolish they are, and how much they need spelled out for them.
That throne is a pretty assuming piece of furniture.

But it suits Rue Lily’s overinflated ego.
Not in context
In all fairness, why would Rue not think a second tall chair in the middle of the room is suspicious? Do they just leave tall chairs sitting around on the off chance one of them might suddenly need to sit on one?
There’s one tall chair. She has to stop and remember that the original one got hit by crystal.
‘Trust’? I’m sorry, did you say you ‘trusted’ Roxy, you pasty, unethical excuse for a bureaucrat?
‘Cause it looked to me like you disrespected, insulted, and tried to exploit her.
She ought to have kicked you instead of the ‘chair’.
It may have been deserved but far from productive. And despite all their shortcomings, our adventurers here do try to follow their objectives. Or at least they try not to impede their progress unnecessarily. Kicking Mimic causing Rue to fall on her ass (which might hurt even more than a single kick) is less likely to cause a hostile response (to Roxy as well as Mimic) and does serve to hurt and humiliate her. So it’s the best of both worlds. (Intermediate) Objective accomplished.
What? You mean that when she didn’t immediately kick the whole crew out, that wasn’t an overflowing act of trust? Sufficient for all purposes?
The more I see of the elves in this wretched hive of arrogance and snobbery, the more I wonder what happened to Roxie’s biological parents for her to have wound up fostered out to a clan of human barbarians.
Maybe they didn’t want her and either left her at an orphanage or – unless there’s an orphanage frequented by barbarians – simply left her to the wilds only for Petey’s parents to find her? Or they could have been elves who got sick of their fellow elves, went to live with Petey’s tribe, befriended Petey’s parents, and entrusted them with her care should anything untimely happen to them.
Sheesh. How is the option where her parents are dead seeming less sad?
Because in that scenario, they loved and cared about her.
Eat board? (It looks solid.)
Pretty sure that’s the relic they’re here to retrieve.
Now, are these elves using an odd definition of ancient? Has the ancient spirit taken up a hobby recently? Or has the leakage from our world to theirs (Eye-Pod?) done funny things to time?
I think it’s using the Zoomer definition of “ancient”, or perhaps the Millenial one at most.
You mean, listening-to-music-on-an-MP3-player-while-skating old? Or even treasuring-a-collection-of-bootleg-VHS-tapes old? Surely he can’t be still-using-a-‘house phone’ ancient?!
These elves seem snooty enough that trends from last season might be ancient to them. They’re all “Ugh, you’re wearing that? You’re still listening to THAT band??”
Mimic really wasn’t thinking. Did he see what happened to that innocent unassuming piece of furniture two strips back?
You’d think it’d be crystal clear.
I would comment on how nice it was of Dahlia to pull Roxy *and* Rue down, but from a pragmatic point of view, if she let Roxy get hit, she probably would have fallen onto them anyway.
