The plan is to do anything you can, no matter how improbable. If you are doomed anyway, this is a productive op-plan, because you don’t know what will actually work. Doing nothing is sealing your doom.
I haven’t played D&D since the 80’s, but I never met a paladin that didn’t use Intelligence as a dump stat.
I remember one telling a LG Deity of a different pantheon “You can’t take my paladin hood, you’re not my deity.”
Of the two Palies I made back in the D & the D, neither had INT as a dump stat. That’s tooo easy. The first was AD&D and I made WIS (and to lesser extent DEX) the dump stat with INT being a middling number (that was over 30 years ago so I can’t exactly remember the stats), the second in 3e had DEX and then CHA as the dump stat (in that it was a DEX was 10 and CHA was a 12, our stats in that game went 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20. INT was 14, CON 16, WIS 18, and STR 20).
I’ve always preferred DEX as my Paly dump stat as once you’re in heavy armor it’s a lot less effective to have it very high, you only get ranged bonuses from ti, and I never really see many ranged attacks out of Paladins.
The only other Paladin (Holy Warrior) I’ve ever played (I didn’t make it, I took it over) has IQ and Perception as the lowest stats at 12, but that’s not really what I’d call “dumping stat” as they are above 10 and in a useful (but not good or great) range. 12 is “above average” in GURPS. Granted their ST and DX are only 13, so it’s not like the guy who made it really cheesed anything (in fact it was built from a template, so those are the starting factory settings for GURPS Holy Warriors, the only thing the og Player boosted to the stratosphere was Will and Resistance to Evil, making the HW practically impervious by Evil supernatural shenanigans).
I am playing pf2 and I don’t find a single non-roleplay reason *not* to have int as your dump stat (unless you’re playing one of the, I think, 3 classes that actually use this stat).
It’s a little sad how useless it is relative to the rest really

Maddie’s conviction certainly gives good bwang for the huck
(also, I like that art split over the bottom panels!)
Wow. That thing hit so hard it knocked the comic panel askew.
Maddie: “I don’t know!”
Paladins don’t lie…
It’s not a lie; she literally doesn’t know what she’s doing, she just had to do SOMETHING.
Sometimes, you have to fight.
OTOH, she is doing approximately what Petey did in the Games.
She’s pulling an Indy Ploy: making it up as she goes.
Galaxy Brain: Your plan can’t fail if you don’t have one!
Improvise is the only plan that survives contact with the enemy.
Maddie. Too good for her own good.
What a bell-ringer! More like the Gong Show.
Good art, as usual.

Sometimes doing nothing will save you. Fortunately for her, she can be pretty sure that this is not one.

Maybe it’ll stop destroying reality because it’s focused on her?
Sure, why not. Of course, if it was smart, it wouldn’t. Reality is the easier target.

I played one once. Back in the days of kits. A high intelligence Paladin with the Swashbuckler kit. She was fun.
I once (back in AD&D) played a dual class mage/paladin. Not too seriously, mind.
… that blink + cloak of displacement combo made melee interesting, but I always wondered if that was what the deity intended …

Giddy up?
Throw another one !!!
When your plan is falling apart around your ears, or you didn’t make one, “Mor DAKA !!!” is usually a good fallback.
