Like someone left a Trident of Warning (with four spokes) in Zar’s haystack? Nah, Madeline endows her weaponry with magical powers by believing they are magic.
Or maybe the paladin that can use a garden hoe as a lethal weapon has a trick up her sleeve that she’s finally starting to fully understand.
“It’s not a rock – it’s a Bead of Force!”
“Bless your heart, that’s clearly a rock…”
“Trust me, it’s a Bead of Force.
“Now.”
Continuing the trend of “an item is magic simply because Maddie believes it is” or was it planted? I’m guessing it wasn’t a bead of force shortly before she picked it up…
“Paladins don’t lie” Not can’t. She stated that it is a bead of force, I’ma go with, she has faith that someone out there won’t let her be a liar about it.
Whether she can’t lie or just doesn’t, having reality (or realities) actually make her words true (so she doesn’t just not lie but in fact speaks absolute truth) would be an awesome power. Good thing it’s Maddie who wields it. Good thing she inspires a tendency to not be believed, too.

Interesting. It’s almost as if someone with incredible powers of foresight left that where they knew it would be needed…

Madeline has powers that far surpass what the average paladin displays, and it’s awesome.
Yeah, but she was dead. She was a Petitioner, not a Paladin.
Sounds like a distinction that a not-a-paladin would make.
This setting obviously differs from the official ones. Limited Liability Congregations indicate radical changes.
Copyright settlements with wotc do, too.

Anyone can use a garden hoe as a lethal weapon.
But not everyone can use it as a Holy Avenger.
[Maddie] Paladins don’t lie
[Garak] Bet I can fix that for you without breaking your oath

I plump for “trend”

I think Mimic is actively working to insulate her from awareness that it shouldn’t work. Perhaps he should have more faith.

Not everything maddie says becomes true. Else the castle bridge would be mad.
I love how Maddie gets the badass eyebrows without actually having visible eyes.
Hard to see but still paler than the rest of her face. (Plus of course different from everyone else who get black eyes
And clearly closed in panel 4 as she throws the “bead”. Even as an incorporeal spirit, she’s consistent about that.
To quote Obi-wan Kenobi: TRUST THE FORCE!!!
