    Colgera was an apathy demon?

Can’t help but interpret the giant god-worms as larvae. Maybe they’re less like hipsters and more like bored kids burning ants with a magnifying glass.

She has bad luck. Roxy wouldn’t believe that Mimic had won the rap battle for the fate of the world, either.

Here I thought Paladins had charisma.
Then again, Maddie would do well to remember that some of her experiences are context-sensitive.

I have a great, hilarious comment, but I shall be saying it in the language of the Apathy Demons:
    MmmmMMmmMMmmMMMMMMmmmmEHHHHH!

Madeline doesn’t have visible eyes, but the others do.
Is she just less distinct overall because she’s new, or is that important? Related to how she closes her eyes when she fights?

I feel like a moron for not noticing that. Now I can’t get over it, because it MUST be important in some way.

Or maybe the detail is just there because maddie fights with her eyes closed.

I had the same thought, but on p. 14 she says “I think I’ve seen one of those before!” It would be hard for her to see what the rift looked like (in order to recognize it) if she’d had her eyes closed the whole time.

Also, the reason she fights with her eyes closed is so that she won’t witness violence, but she’s not committing any acts of violence at the moment.

Nice catch, but I think it might be even more than that.

Maddie doesn’t have visible *irises* here. I can faintly see her eyebrows and in most panels, the shape of her eyes as defined by her animated eyelids in recognisable cartoon eye shapes. It’s just the “dark” parts of her eyes which seem to be outshone or replaced by a brilliant white glow. The other characters shown here have black circles, which could be either normal eyes or holes, but Maddie’s eyes are pure white.

More like 6-56. 8-170 was after Maddie died and was resurrected.

It’s cool that the depiction of their astral form pays attention to the details about their silvery cord, as noted in the Astral Projection spell in 3.5e and in 5e, especially “While you are on the Astral Plane, your astral body is connected at all times to your physical body by a silvery cord” (3.5e) and “a silvery cord that extends from between your shoulder blades and trails behind you, fading to invisibility after 1 foot.” (5e)
