Mimic! We need you to transform into some kind of loot receptacle right now!

Dude’s already a treasure chest by default.

You know, I’ve been wondering if Mimic could transform into something with moving parts like that. A body can mimic something like hinges pretty easily, but wheels would have to be tougher to manage.

Mimics are a type of slime, right? I’d guess that they couldn’t form a functional wheel, but could make something wheel-shaped, and then make it look like it was functional if not scrutinized too closely. I imagine the “wheel” would be something like a modified gastropod foot.

He’s too used to Cube and Rusty handling the looting side of things.

No, no, they have a point. If you’re going to change the genre from crime noir back to fantasy adventure, looting everything that isn’t nailed down is a good start. This is for the greater good, Mimic. Really.

Hey, nails are useful materials! Steal them too!

        Eat Nails?

        Rusty would agree!

Rusty would’ve had a field day with that door too. They really could’ve used him here.

Too bad he’d probably eat the coins first.

Just shove it in Mimic’s mouth. He can keep it safe and it’ll shut him up.

You know, it’s amazing that Mimic’s resemblance to a treasure chest hasn’t come up at all since this comic began.

One time, when Madeline first met him, but I think that was it.

A third time, Derek thought ‘words from a chest’ ment mimic.

At any rate, I see what you mean. It doesn’t come up all that often. I guess the townspeople got so used to Mimic, Rusty and Cube living there that they don’t have much of a reaction to them anymore.

And if they get caught, this would lead to a scene similar to when the Fratelli family catches Mouth.

Genre conventions come up against the fantasy adventurer’s need to loot everything nailed down and lose, hard.

It is better to light a blowtorch than curse in the darkness. Though, honestly, that looks like one of the dinky torches they use to brûlée the crème rather than your basic door-cutting variety.
