Maybe he’s doing so badly that they don’t suspect him, because a real spy would be better at this.

This illustrates a bad case of ‘SNAFU Syndrome’. Things are so typically messed up that a little more craziness seems completely normal.
He’s getting away with it BECAUSE he’s a mimic!
I guess Mimic is more of a wizard than a rogue…
because wizards cantrip, but thieves cant.
