At least they don’t have Madeline along to give away the bluff.

OTOH, Stabs has less to work with than Mimic did then.

But they do have Anti-Madeline! I’m not so sure it was only ever Madeline’s good side that gets the party in trouble when subterfuge is the name of the game.

Bit of a shot in the dark here, but the obviously-not-tentacelli’s being involved, followed by a secret fish village make me think this may not be the Noir genre after all.

Might be Lovecraftian Horror instead, Deep Ones and all. Still has most detective tropes, but it usually goes a lot worse.

Even if they’re fish-people, they’re acting more like hoodlums from a rough neighborhood than like unknowable eldritch monsters.

      For now.

This would be a really bad time for the genre to suddenly get changed to Lovecraftian horror, and we still don’t know who has the belt or what that person’s goals are.

It’s beginning to look a lot like fish men…

You’re just standing there, then suddenly there’s a whole party on your head. Awkward.

Fish Person: “What is this, some kind of raid?”
Frank Drebin: “Well, it’s very impressive, yes, but we need to ask a few questions…”
    CUT!
