Derek doesn’t seem very happy with this new scenario – I wonder what exactly “master” entails here. Also, unless the accelerated timeframe in Zar’s dimension varies, that’s definitely inconsistent with the last time it was brought up (one day vs. five weeks, now two months vs. three). Coincidence?

Yeah. When time gets all wibbly-wobbly, why should it do so consistently? That’d just make *no* sense. :p
Are we sure Derek isn’t just being sarcastic when he calls Zar “Master”? Derek took a vow of non-violence, not a vow of non-backsass.
