Got to say that’s a very nice reveal of her face there. Generic mooks with face concealment are par for the course, but when it’s an actually important named character doing it you just know that it’s either because we would recognize them or because they’re covering up something disturbing.
Oh, so she does have a name. I don’t think it’s ever been mentioned in-comic.
(A pun on Atropos?)
Interesting that the cast page lists Antropas under “Enemies”, but Antoinette under “Other”. Certainly Antoinette has appeared more pleasant so far, but that’s to be expected from someone whose job is to greet guests, while Antropas seems to be more of a backstage manager, and doesn’t prove what she’s really like underneath the act.
Then again, Y.T. is also still listed under “Enemies” even though the cast page has clearly been updated.
If you hadn’t pointed this out, I never would’ve realised they were different myrmarchs. Well, maybe I would’ve at some point, like if they end up in the same scene (not unlikely). But you know what I mean.
It’s never been mentioned in-comic. The only forum guess I recall seeing is MerlinOfTheTower’s, who suggested that they’re the souls of the guests that have been zombified.
That would make zero sense. They’re not around the zombies, they’re around the normal-looking guests. And it’s emitted from various objects including the artifact itself. It’s probably related to the power the artifact has over those people and things.

“And in the master’s chambers
They gathered for the feast”
They’re going to need more than just a bunch of steely knives if they want to eat Y.T.
Well the next line is “But they just can’t kill the beast”, so yeah. She’s not going to die.
I hope YT doesn’t get get eaten; I hear it’s unpleasant in an ant colon-y.
Where’s the thumbs-up button when you want it?
That’s gonna end poorly for *somebody.*
Maddie incoming in 3…2…1?
The same Maddie who is currently flesh to stone’d?
I wouldn’t put it past Maddie to will herself out of being a statue.
Not Maddie. :]
M-A-G-E-S-D-I-S-J-U-N-C-T-I-O-N
… you know, just saying, not a bad option.
W-I-S-H
No, YT! There is only one “s” in “wish”!
Although a few more in the stream of profanity that usually follows the use of a Wish and the realisation of unintended consequences…
Carotid colums hit harder.

Such a lovely face.
Such a lovely face.
Such a lovely face.
I’ve got words in my head and they won’t go
Lyrics in my head and they won’t go…
At this point, she’s not just an important named character. She’s a primary ant-agonist.
I wonder about the lady who greeted them. If you check the cast page, this blue ant is Myrmarch Antropas, but the purple lady is Myrmarch Antoinette.
That really doesn’t bode well for her, considering the fate of a different royal with the name Antoinette.
Marie-march?
So… here goes off the joke set up back in 3rd chapter? Whoa.
Oh, so she does have a name. I don’t think it’s ever been mentioned in-comic.

As is Slobber. *shrug*
Possibly so new readers wouldn’t be let in on any heel-face turns before they happen in comic.

The bellhops still seem reluctant; certainly, they seem scared. I have a hunch they may free Rusty.
Yowza that’s some sharp chompers.
The problem is I can’t tell if it’s normal for formians to have mouths like that or if it’s a sign of corruption.
The workers seem cuter without having to cover their faces, but that could be a worker-myrmarch difference instead.
What particularly bothers me isn’t the jagged lips themselves, but those weird mandibles jutting out from them.
Anthropmorphism weirdness. Real ant mandibals are more or less in the same place, just… bigger.
She puts me in mind of Ultron, actually…
Who knew a hostel environment could be such a hostile environment?
Most ant motels are a hostile environment…they ‘check in but they don’t check out’ 😉
They can check out any time they like!
Anyone else notice the colored circles in panel 4? Have we determined what those circles mean (other than, maybe, just coolness from the artifact)?

That’s the glamour keeping them docile.
