Wot have we got ‘ear then? Maddie looks cross. Rusty on the other hand, just looks blissed out. Still not seeing the mirrors on the ceiling! Or the pink champagne on ice!
Even in real life, it’s not like stainless steel is invincible. It’s resistant to corroding under ordinary atmospheric conditions, which is what most people care about, but if you leave it soaking in superheated brine for an hour, it’s not going to be in good condition when you come back.
I highly doubt it would be going any better with Slobber. It would have just been a ball pit instead of a heated rock….
And patina… Can you say hot tub for two?
On one hand, yeah, they came here to do a job. On the other hand, they’re not in such a huge rush that they can’t afford to relax for a bit before being dragged into action (I mean, just the trip here is bound to have taken a while, so it’s unlikely to be an “every minute counts” situation).
Either way, given that they don’t know exactly what they’re looking for, investigating too recklessly is likely to give their enemies more information than themselves – and I doubt Madeline is capable of subtlety without the one party member with a nonnegative Int modifier advising.
On the other-other hand, this spa-treatment might be meant to lull the party into a snare. The patrons seen a few comics ago didn’t seem quite right in the head. Really, this could go either way.
Nobody expects Madeline the Paladin! Her chief weapon is high saving throws… high saving throws and lay on hands… lay on hands and high saving throws… Her two weapons are lay on hands and high saving throws… and divine smiting… Her three weapons are lay on hands, and high saving throws, and divine smiting… and an innate devotion to goodness… Her four… no… Amongst her weapons… Amongst her weaponry… are such elements as lay on hands, high saving throws… I’ll come in again.
While she does possess the feature that provides the very namesake of the term “mammal” as well as the other unique characteristics that differentiate mammals (most notably, hair), Y.T. is cold-blooded and therefore defies all the vertebrate classes defined by real-world taxonomy.
I wouldn’t say “quite a rack”. She’s bigger than “B shells” but much smaller than Roxie and the Princess and …I…I don’t really look at comic characters in that way…no sir, not me.
Self-care is important, Maddie. You can’t help others if you collapse from exhaustion or stress. As long as the walls don’t start turning purple, you’re still all right.
Nothing is more dangerous to the spirit of adventure than a lavish hotel room. And no one is more resistant to the spirit of relaxation than a paladin.
OHHH DON”T YOU KNOW YOU NEVER SPLIT THE PARTY CLERICS IN THE BACK KEEP THE FIGHTERS HALE AND HEARTY, WIZARD IN THE MIDDLE, WHERE HE CAN SHED SOME LIGHT, AND YOU NEVER LET THAT DAMN THEIF OUT OF SIGHT!!!!
what? someone had to do it.
This party doesn’t even have a cleric, wizard, fighter, or thief in it. Well, unless you count Madeline, whose class is kind of half-cleric half-fighter. And I guess we don’t know what class Yuan-Tiffany is, or even if she has one – she’s never cast any spells, her only combat successes were against extremely easy opponents, and her only effort at sneaking relied on a magical Amulet of Hide from Undead rather than any stealth skills of her own.

Calling it now:
“Eat steely knives?”
Unless someone else already called it, previously.
Not someone. Simon. Also Mucat.
At this point, it’ll be a surprise twist if that doesn’t happen.
“Stainless steel? The fiends!” And yes I know rust monsters can probably eat that too.

its “stab it with there steely knifes, but they just cant kill the beast.”
I can’t help but wonder how this would have been going if someone less… LG… had been chosen in Maddie’s spot. Like Slobber or Patina.
Or Anti-Madelyne.
High Wis-score for the win!
Badly.
Or rather — worse
I highly doubt it would be going any better with Slobber. It would have just been a ball pit instead of a heated rock….

When you have their ear but they still won’t listen.
No wonder YT’s so grumpy and uncooperative, any snake owner knows they’re ornery when they’re shedding!
Theres a picasso joke in here somewhere…
Also, eeewww….
Van Gogh?
No, Yuan Tiffany doesn’t Van’ to Gogh, you ‘ear?
That was awful and I hate you.
Well done. XD
Maddie was an excellent choice for this party.
Very true!
Poor maddie. Being the only person interested in actually doing your job is awful.
Honestly, I kinda sympathize with both sides.

The traditional paladin way of dealing with traps, of course, is to walk right in and trust your saving throws to be high enough to survive.
Saving throws and lay on hands

I’ve heard of Lend Me Your Ear but this is ridiculous!
It worked on Roxy and Presti.
I’m waiting for the reveal that the hotel has created an adventure to entice Maddie to stay, the answer perpetually just out of reach.
Nah, that wouldn’t work – Maddie’s Too Dumb To Fool (and not curious enough) in that way.
Maybe a never-ending series of tiny, sickly orphans walking into danger or something.
Why would Y.T. address Maddie as ‘mammal’ when Y.T. herself has quite a rack?
Since when have racist slurs had any connection to reality?

Can’t say Y.T. won’t lend an ear to her comrade’s complaints
Every Group Project Ever

Or dying. That kinda limited what you could do.
At least temporarily.

Is that a published filk? I think I’d like to learn it!
Never mind–found it!

Apparently, it takes an iTunes account to hear it.

I wish we could get some bonus strips (1-2 pages for each) that show what would’ve happened if some of the other “heroes” were chosen instead.
At one strip a week, I think it’ll take long enough just showing what happened with the heroes that were chosen.
You’re making Maddie mad. And you won’t like her when she’s mad.
