No no no, that’s only if it took the bullet or the landing for someone else.
Shooting flumphs for the sake of it is… uh, while not derivative, it’s totally evil and wrong and this is not just something I’m saying because a paladin is hanging over my shoulder.
In Order of the stick (a great webcomic if you can get past the first 120 pages) there is a running gag that when someone calls there is a flumph there to break their fall
Actually, dude, I don’t know what you’ve been smoking but first 120 pages of OOTS is ALL that is good. Afterwards it’s all bloated storyline and megatons of side plots and characters. Bland as watered-down lemonade.
Not only that, but it was due in large part to Mimic finding the right way to motivate the team members that needed it, as well as coming up with the plan that netted them the win. The same Mimic that Robbie dismissed as worthless at the beginning is proving to be a better team captain than him. Added burn.
If he had lost, he’d be able to continue playing/fighting in The Games for even longer, allowing him to maim and slaughter with close to no repercussions.
Look back two pages. He told “whiny halfling” to give Robespierre the ball. But they didn’t. He didn’t get to win the game for the team. Instead of Robbie’s style of winning, they used trickery and deceit.
It’s also possible that he’s sad because no one wants to celebrate with him. He’s the only one who’s alone in those panels (besides Roxy, but she’s commentating).
Waaaaay back in 8-1, the judge sentenced Robespierre to participate in the games. Petey was looking forward to the carnage it doesn’t look like he got to commit much violence. I think that’s why he’s unhappy; he’s not sad that they won, he’s sad that it’s over.
Alternative theory: Since panel 4 suggests this is a tournament; losing would like have meant that the Mountain Giants would’ve been out. In that case, Petey’s sentence would be complete.
Robespierre may be one of those whiney fighters who go on about,”Why do non fighters get sneak attack or true strike! Shouldn’t fighting builds be best in combat and lead in battle? Oh boo hoo, hoo!”

So, who was shot by the ref ?
Top 3 options are:
1) Random NPC
2) A Cabbage Merchant
3) The Flumph
Don’t forget Malevolus.
Poor Randall Dominic Enpesea, always getting harmed for the sake of someone’s amusement.
Probably a random troll player. Bit of extra encouragement not to lose again.
Flumph? Wrong webcomic. 😉

What webcomic is that?

I like the whole thing. I regularly go back to the first strip and read the whole thing.
Robie doesn’t look happy to have won for some reason…
Well they DID just pull it off independent of his leadership. Heck, they outright disobeyed him to succeed. That’s gotta sting.
Not only that, but it was due in large part to Mimic finding the right way to motivate the team members that needed it, as well as coming up with the plan that netted them the win. I wonder if his plan was to lose for some reason. Hopefully we will learn the answer for not being happy with the outcome in the next comic.

Note the 4th panel. They’re still playing.
They were tied before that goal. If not for the last-minute teamwork, they could have gone to SUDDEN DEATH OVERTIME.
“Robespierre sad. Where slaves girls? Slave girls suppossed to be at Robespierre’s feet during traditional barbarian victory painting!”
[sings] We did it mimic’s waaaaay!
Look back two pages. He told “whiny halfling” to give Robespierre the ball. But they didn’t. He didn’t get to win the game for the team. Instead of Robbie’s style of winning, they used trickery and deceit.
Hit the nail on the head, I reckon. Poor barbarian needs a hug.
Even further; what are the conditions of his probation?
It could be that HE is required to score
in order to reduce the sentance…
He tried to create an incompetant team
so that shouldn’t have been an issue?
It’s also possible that he’s sad because no one wants to celebrate with him. He’s the only one who’s alone in those panels (besides Roxy, but she’s commentating).
Well, we have not gotten to the “Called Shot Heard Round the World” yet. He still has time to shine.
He probably feels inspired to, too.
Misspelled “Thrilled”

He got the face-off
Other than organizing the team and coaching, has he actually participated in this game?
If you look at how cut up he is, I think it’s safe to say that he got his own taste of the buzzsaws a time or two while mimic was hospitalized.
Robespierre may be one of those whiney fighters who go on about,”Why do non fighters get sneak attack or true strike! Shouldn’t fighting builds be best in combat and lead in battle? Oh boo hoo, hoo!”
I think that bards that think “Bards should have Wizard spell progression. Oh Boo hoo hoo” are even worse than that.
You know, I feel bad for that troll. That’s acid damage. If he wants those fingers back, he’s gonna have to cut off his hand.
