Not only are they in the MM, but they’re featured on the Wild Magic table which half of all Sorcerers use. (Well, not quite half; the Draconic sorcerer is much more powerful overall, so probably a significantly larger percentage of sorcerer players will pick that archetype. Plus there’s a third one in Sword Coast and possibly others that I don’t know about. But still.) One of the 50 possible random occurrences, which happen 5% of the time after you cast a spell, or whenever the GM refreshes your Probability Control feature before the end of the day, is “1d6 flumphs appear in a space near you, and are frightened of you; they disappear after 1 minute”.
nice, concise reading for the box scores. And at least it isn’t another rendition of “Take me out at the ball game”. And what have Cube and Rusty been doing?
Not eating sawblades, apparently. This “enemy must first be weakened” strategy seems to be working out about as well as one would expect when fighting a team of lousy regenerates.
Also jeez, did Rob ever go a long ways for that planned thumping session with Mimic, look how far away the clinic is from the arena!
My homebrew Wild Mage can use the quick and dirty casting feat to cast any spell as an instant, but the wild surge 100% happens. Summoning uncontrolled Flumps will be added to the table.
And having Roxy accidentally summon Flumps is a great idea. Maybe a Phlump Paladin will convince someone to get back in the good fight, hmmmm?

This is what happens when you lose the only diplomatic person in your group I suppose. Time to fix things up Mimic.
Also, maybe throw something at Roxy.
In this strip, the most likely solution is to throw Roxy at something.
See, Derek? By keeping Mimic away, you increased the violence in the world.
Flumph, there it is! An ode to OotS! (Because when’s the last time you ever heard of a Flumph anywhere else?)
Wonder if there’d ever be a good mashup between Roxy and Elan.
Actually, believe it or not, they’re in the 5e Monster Manual. (Flumphs, that is. Not Roxy and Elan.)

Wait wait wait. There are new archetypes in the SCAG? O.o I skimmed it recently and didn’t see anything so interesting. How many of them are there?

Flumphs have been around forever. They’re great to make fun of.
Oh, I know.
I was making fun of them myself.
They’re such a great target!
no, i’m pretty sure you actually just got owned by everyone
Wow.
Feel better now?
He’s right you know.
The parenthetical makes it pretty clear that J knows OotS didn’t invent flumphs.
Stabs vs Robspierre: I’d pay money to see that match-up.
Sounds like someone’s a little jelly of Roxy’s jams.
A little toe jam never hurt…
Saints preserve us…

Something actually improved by adding flumphs. I am impressed.
Everything is improved by adding flumphs! [:O] [:P]
Everyflumph is imphlumphed by flumphing flumphs! {o:} (d:)
As I said a ton of times before… WE NEED SOMEONE TO EAT THAT BARD!!
