I’d start looking up the necro/temple/whatever that put him back together just for future adventure reference. “We can rebuild you better than before — stronger, faster, smarter, etc.”
You may well be onto something with this “redirect teleport spells”. On panel 5, Presti has the look (well, mostly the question mark) of someone surprised by the result of the teleport.
Principle doesn’t apply. It’s not something in the background; it’s been fully noted and had an entire update focused on it. The reason it becomes noteworthy here is that Grinner is forcing events. Exhaust the mage in some manner and set up a teleport redirect; you either capture her normally or when she goes for the emergency escape. He’s got backups, certainly, but they can only extend so far. Extraneous personnel/weaponry will change the field of play in ways that he did not prepare for. Looking forward to seeing how this plays out.
Xanatos Gambit is at play, if Presti was completely out of escape teleports (or just didn’t have any) the room full of weirdos would have beaten her senseless.
Where is the real Stabs in all of this? If there’s any one unpredictable person that Grinner cannot easily plan for, it’s an intelligent and crazy-prepared Rogue.
And it looks like that’s all they have left if Roxy doesn’t sense a trap ahead.

Tut. Tut. Tut.
Shoulda told them the real Stabs could handle a whole pack of imposters like that — she’ll believe the last one standing.
Daaamn Grinner is getting smarter. Getting torn asunder must have been good for him

We can rebuild him. We have the necromancy. We can make him better than he was. Smarter…smellier…fester.
the 6,000,000 gp man…. er gnoll
Is it just me, or is Grinner’s ability to predict events almost marysuetiful?
He’s planned the field. Good chance he’s set the area to redirect teleport spells to that location.
Which is why the cannon is important. It’s not something he planned for.

In addition, look underneath the golem. Remember that ‘X’ from earlier?
Pages 7-12 and 7-13 specifically show Grinner testing a teleport redirect on the pug gnoll.
So, yeah, seems likely.
Yep. A gun hung on the wall in the first act will be used by the third.
The hints of what are to come are usually there. I just don’t see them except with 20/20 hindsight
Jut don’t confuse Chekhov’s Gun with Chekov’s Gun.
One is a narrative principle, the other is nothing remarkable whatsoever.

Remember, he’s had a long time to plan and a lot of intelligence to use.
I suspect that he is just a puppet… and that the mind flayers will be making a return appearance real soon….
I don’t think we’re going to see them again, unfortunately.
I’m beginning to suspect Grinner may have come into possesion of that most dreadful and awesome of artifacts…
…the Script.
I lost.
…I lost?
I’m not supposed to lose… Let me see the script.
WAIT! I GET ANOTHER SHOT!
Is it just me or does Presti look adorable with her head sticking out of that cotton candy?
It’s a safe bet she didn’t ready Get Candy Out Of Hair this morning.
Well, I don’t think she looks as if she’s quite cottoned on to the situation.
She just needs digitation.
Presto is just a cantrip…if she had it readied, she could clean up her hair and clothes.
He’s been waiting all day to use that joke.
He spends an hour every morning preparing those things.
So…

Mario Stabs?!
Or would that make her Italian Stabs?
