Level 6: #72
Chapter: Comic, Level 6 — Fangs for Nothing
There’s the ding, and you know what that means: There’s only a few more days to get your Critical Missives questions in!
And some more good news, the Rusty & Co. store has finally opened! Hipster shirts and monster buttons for anyone who wants (magical powers not guaranteed.) Is there a product you’d like to see? Drop me a line for that, too!
A Ding, a maniacal laugh and a cliff-hanger. Yep, ticks all the boxes. We even got Mimic Stumped. Tune in next time, folks.
Mimic stumped. LOL
Well Maddie is getting her rhymes from Derek the Cleric. Hopefully, Maddie has enough left to let trusty Rusty know where to find him.
The way he got mimic was great. Not just as a call-back, mind you.
If Mimic would just use his racial Adhesive attack, he’d have Grinner right where he wants him. (Unless Grinner brought some alcohol to dissolve it, which, considering how well his assault appears to have been planned, seems likely.)
Mimic has yet to be anything but the face (well, mouth) of the party.
The “brains” is more vague since Cube is a memetic badass all-around and I suspect Rusty is the only core member who HAS a physical brain. Mimic anatomy is a rather esoteric subject.
Three cheers for Rusty, saving Madeline so they can regroup!!!
And one sigh for the necessity of patience to learn how regrouping will save the day.
hmmmmm. . . . let us see. . . two down two to go means four. Does anyone think that Prestige will appear in the next level?
I think Grinner was referring to Cube and Mimic as the “two to go”.
I think *Rusty* and Mimic are the “two to go” — he already caught Cube, and he may not have even seen Rusty.
I don’t think it means either.
2 down: Cube and Mimic.
2 to go: Rusty and Prestige.
They WERE the ones involved in taking down the Ithilids. . .
Yeah — it’s his indifference to Maddie that leads me to believe that Prestige will be dragged in if necessary.
That depends on whether he’s more concerned with his personal revenge, or the job he was hired for. (And the Callimafia who hired him are probably not going to appear again, sadly) Roxy was the one who foiled him personally.
Let’s hope so: Prestige is easily the second-best of the Token Humanoid the strip has presented. (After Madeline — of course — but some way above everyone else.)
Prestige? I’m expecting the whole crew… Stabs, Prestige, even the princess and the bard… With a mad Madeline leading the charge!
Don’t forget Robelie-… Robespea-… Rob- ah, you know who I mean.
Rusty’s a pretty strong little bug.
And of course Grinner gets in a maniacal laugh. Gnolls are probably pretty good at that, being hyena-people; it’s just that we never get to see/hear them do it because they’re always the dumb thugs and never the criminal masterminds.
He’s slow-gnolling. Bad form, bad form.
Wonderful cliffhanger.
Bravo.
Lucky for her she wasn’t wearing metal boots!
Nice catch Rusty. I wonder if Grinner knows he’s standing on Mim or not? The way this fight has been going it’s really hard to guess
Well, he *is* talking to him. Or I suppose he could be talking to himself, but “Wait’ll you see step two” doesn’t seem like the sort of thing one would say to oneself.
Unless one is a villain – Villains feel a constant need to monologue their plans, even when nobody is around to hear them.
He talks about step two as he steps on mimic. I think he’s using a pun to gloat.
I wonder where anti Madeline is in all of this?
She’s the one who pulled out the Drama Tag.
YAY Rusty, great save. I knew he had to be more than a mascot for the group.
Well, we can certainly expect to see Maddie return for the next arc. No way she’s going to turn away from her friends at this point. Unless she’s too injured to help.
I wonder who else will return to rescue Mimic and Cube.
…*everyone*? (hope-hope)
So do you think Grinner sees Rusty and Madeline on the other side of the ravine?
Or is he too busy laughing?
I sure hope this comic isn’t going to get Cerebus Syndrome.
There’s no cause for alarm. He just ended the level with a cliff hanger .. er.. faller. Instanto Plot-Hookus, as that other author says, what’s-her-name-Rolfing. J/K.
Can it get that? It’s never really been a gag-a-day strip to begin with.
It does for a bit, then you get Gnomic Baseball.
