She’s just the most adorable little badass ever, isn’t she.
I know it’s a little weird to fall for a fictional character, but, dang it, she’s just so awesome.
To be fair, it’s kind of difficult to be a badass when you’re about four inches tall. Didn’t she manage to get the drop on somebody at some point, though?
No, she’s Madeline’s evil side, which is not at all the same as being her twin. The issue would then be whether her badassery comes from her evil side or her good side. Madeline being Madeline, I would suggest her element of badassery comes from her courage and nobility, and therefore her good side, so her evil bit would not possess that.
Lay on hands however is one thing paladins do though eh Maddie? Might want to see if you can’t grab a few more hit points before you go vorpal halberd on Grinner’s tail
Maddie did already use that on mimic, though. On the other hand, her cha must be pretty high, so she might have some left. Then again, she might not remember to use it.
Paladins start getting spells at fourth level, as long as they have the wisdom (12+) for a first-level bonus spell. And Ms. “Absorbing-every-detail-of-my-surroundings-with-my-eyes-closed” Madeline shows every sign of high wisdom. It’s her intelligence that’s…hard to classify.
(Really IS hard to classify. I mean, what do you make of someone who will buy gardening implements sold as vorpal weapons…and then wields them with such confidence that the universe gives in and treats them like the real thing?)
It’s also possible she used her Lay on Hands points to heal everyone up after the fight was over. She would not be the first paladin to make the mistake of thinking, “Well, fight’s over, might as well spend everything”…. *Whistles innocently*
And I thought Cube’s Angry Face was scary… Maddie’s is Terifying since she’s only got one eye open and is covered in blood. BRING ON THE HOLY SMITING!!!!
Yeah, I am pretty sure this is one of the few times, in fact, maybe even the first time, we have actually seen Madeline angry.
Grinner is {expletive redacted} on a {expletive redacted}, {expletive redacted} with flaming {expletive redacted}.
I hope.
More likely, he is offering her an out because he is worried that she might still be able to kick his tail despite her injuries, and doesn’t want to test that issue if he doesn’t have to.
Yeah, remember that Maddie’s got a vorpal weapon, which means that if she gets even one hit in she has a small but non-zero chance of one-shotting Grinner. Plus as far as Grinner knows she may have a Smite up her sleeve, which gives her hit a nasty extra punch.
…Having a little trouble understanding how exactly that’s supposed to work… Even if Cube can’t dissolve nylon, how come that stops him(?) from absorbing the Gnoll in panel 1? It never stopped him from absorbing things he can’t dissolve before.

I wonder if whoever patched up Grinner did something to his brain that improved his INT ?
And where did Mimic go ?
I know. I didn’t see any common, unassuming pieces of furniture in any of the panels.
Ooh, wait. This chapter has been full of call-backs lately, hasn’t it? Grinner just had to pick up his sword.
What’s saying he made this plan? There could be someone smart among the tentaclis.
I guess mimic is disguised, but will reveal himself when maddie is near death.
…so, like three strips ago? 😉
But yeah; there’s gonna be a twist here; what ever happened to that bard? You know, the one that had a grudge with Grinner in the first place… 😉
I’m talking about ‘will die in seconds’ rather then losing blood by the gallon.
When it is suitably dramatic, of course.
I don’t suppose he had time enough to disguise himself as the tent. . . .
Could Mimic be disguising himself as Grinner´s sword?
The very same thing crossed my mind.
Cutting edge shapeshifting…
So, I know this is a fantasy universe, but I just felt I should point out… http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nylon#Hydrolysis_and_degradation
Cube is made of a more a digistive sort of substance. Nylon is pretty hard on the stomach.
Hmm — come to think of it — has the kraken been seen since they went in?
Yes, when Gordie delivered the pizza, he mentioned that there was a puppet show instead of a drawbridge.
Hearing of him is one thing. Seeing’s another.
Congratulations, Maddie. You just inspired me more than “Man of Steel” did. Of course, that was a low bar to reach in the first place.
I had a bagel this morning. It inspired me more than Man of Steel. And it wasn’t even a very good bagel.

no the most little adorable badass his her evil twin
There is no evidence her evil twin was a badass. We have had several worth of issues that prove Madeline to be a badass.
she is Madeline’s twin, of course she is a badass

At 6th level Paladins start acquiring spellcasting ability, so it is possible that Maddie has one 1st level spell.
She hasn’t shown to posses a mount yet, however.

The ability to vorpalize ordinary gardening implements by force of will: *that* is badass.
After the dispute with WOTC he probobly switched over to Pathfinder and they use CHA for paladin spells.
It’s also possible she used her Lay on Hands points to heal everyone up after the fight was over. She would not be the first paladin to make the mistake of thinking, “Well, fight’s over, might as well spend everything”…. *Whistles innocently*

Did Grinner just show mercy? Would he really have let her walk?
Nah, walking away just sets one up for a backstab.
More likely, he is offering her an out because he is worried that she might still be able to kick his tail despite her injuries, and doesn’t want to test that issue if he doesn’t have to.

If he had enough information to know maddie wouldn’t flee, it could just’ve been some taunt.

Crap, I made this comment last time, didn’t I?
