Level 6: #35
Chapter: Comic, Level 6 — Fangs for Nothing
Hey, listen! The Rusty Plush Kickstarter is picking up steam, but it still needs your help to get to the finish line! If you, or someone you know, wants a Rusty plush, don’t hesitate to pre-order one! And spread the link around, too! Thanks!
No hinges to eat this time.
+1 for “Hey, listen!”
And an additional +1 for the door opening to the proper Zelda “Door opening” song.
Thanks for checking what those notes play so I don’t have to.
The dangers of dump stats?
Well, this is still a tougher puzzle than “Speak, friend, and enter.”
Speak “friend”, and enter.
Apparently Elves aren’t much for punctuation.
To be fair, the elven door “speak friend, and enter” isn’t so much a real “puzzle” as it is simply intended to keep our any non-elves, since only a speaker of that particular brand of elven would read ot, and subsequently be able to properly enunciate the word for friend in elvish, which apparently requires some mastery, or just having it as a native tongue.
Somebody should tell Madeline to carry potions of Fox’s Cunning with her for situations like this.
Is she intelligent enough to realize what a good idea it is?
this comment blew my mind.
She should be WISE enough to know it’s a good idea!
Unless she’s one of those paladins who dumped Wisdom and relies on a periapt for access to spells.
Ah, but does she have any ranks in Knowledge(arcana)? If not, she would need to make an INT check to know that potion actually exists…
You do know that paladins cast spells from charisma now right?
Second question: do you really want to put it in and find out what that will do?
“Opening the door” is only one possibility.
(Remember to vote!)
If those puzzle pieces are marshmallow, I’d hate to see the size of the leprechaun!
For Hipster Vampires their dungeon riddles and traps seem rather cliche…..
That’s OK! They’re doing it ironically.
oh Madeline…
Madeline, Madeline, Madeline…
I love Madeline’s expressions!
You do them brilliantly
A group of militiamen (in commie countries, a poor excuse for police) were given this exact intelligence test. The commander comes and announces: I’m glad everyone in our commissariat passed. 5% of you have shown exceptional intelligence, 95% exceptional strength!
Sounds like a typical D&D party to me. The wizard or thief generally has about 2 minutes to get the door open using brains, before the fighter decides to open it with a hammer, or the sorcerer blasts it off the hinges.
First time Mimic has ever mimicked Rusty [panel 4]
He didn’t. That’s a cutaway panel. You should note the silhouette right next to Rusty in that panel would mean that the Yuan-ti is mimicking Madeline as well, if that were true.
Poor Madeline.. I doubt she could figure out that she’s skinny enough to wiggle through the hole in the door, but that’s cheating, and paladins don’t cheat, even when it’s an evil puzzle.
Only Madeline could be stumped by a puzzle a one year old could figure out. Of course, a one year old needs an adult to lift the pieces, but anyone who has had one of those shape ball toys could solve this in seconds. Madeline obviously grew u[p in a temple or something and was deprived of a normal childhood.
I am thinking Madeline is the long-lost sister of Glory. Onnnnn-waaaaaard!!!!!!
Just found this . . . I love it!
And I hope Madeline is trying to figure out what the trap is . . .
It can’t be that easy, so it must be a trap!
Or . . . double-think would be that it IS that easy, and you’ll trap yourself trying to beat the trap . . .
Good thing she and Rusty are probably too dumb to fool.
Ha! Just noticed that at the beginning of panel 3, the fairy isn’t just slurring her words; she’s imitating Tiffany’s snaky accent. Neat detail.
Also, as Jon mentioned, she gets bonus fairy points for “Hey, Listen!” Just don’t let her say it another ten thousand times…
i think that Madeline uses the same strategies as our main trio and she has finally found a situation that neither cube nor rusty can eat and mimic cant trick. her only other tactic is kill evil.
Is the music for the door opening the Zelda door opening jingle? I
Nearly a week later and I just got the joke… My mind, has been blown.
