Ah, Nellie Naga, Queen of this year’s Texas Rattler Roundup. You’d think an experience investigator like Presti knows you don’t get chatty with strangely cheerful, smiling strangers while invading enemy territory.
If this comic is fully D&D based then lamias are having the body of a lion in addition to their human hands and torso. It could be a yuan-ti abomination though
For some reason, the folks behind the D&D Monster Manual p!ssed all over the Lamia and the Gorgon by applying their names to completely different monsters… essentially a Felinaur and what appears to be some sort of metallic bull thing.
But yeah… Lamia was a name, initially. Can’t remember the whole story, other than that she ate babies or something like that. Not sure when snakes came into it… but that probably doesn’t matter much.
“Naga” is just snakes in general, so far as I’m aware. The whole human feature thing is an add-on…
As for Yuan-Ti … no idea. Purely D&D creation? Probably not.
Lamia would probably fit best if this weren’t D&D-based…
@SotiCoto: Lamia was a Roman-African princess who blamed the gods for the death of her two children, so she crafted a spell that allowed all monsters to track demigods anywhere, before turning herself into a monster. Directly or indirectly, she’s killed tens of thousands of heroes.
@ SotiCoto: Gorgon is also the name of a bull-like monster that was believed to live in West Africa, possibly conflated with the Catoblepas, both legends likely describing the real-life wildebeest and rhinoceros.
You’re thinking of a man-snake (or man-serpent) literally a man’s head on a snake’s body, thus no arms. A naga is like a mermaid, just snake instead of fish, so of course they have arms. Also a lamia is a variant of a naga.
I suppose my question is why didn’t the mindflayer mobsters already eat the yuan-ti’s brains? Perhaps they don’t like the flavour of Texas? 😛 Still good stuff, can’t wait to see what’s happening with Rusty and Cube too!
ROFL; never ever trust a cute green redhead standing behind a rock in a dungeon! Nellie the Texas Naga (or Lamia) I like that. And now where, oh where are Rusty and the cube?
D&D nagas don’t have a human torso, just snake body and barely human head. Yuan-ti abomination is the best options in my opinion. Or she’s a half breed of sorts, also a possibility, maybe part human part naga

I think she’s a yuan-ti. Nagas don’t have arms, but I like your name for her!
Nagas or Nagis in all the Hindu statues I’ve seen have human torsos, and the Goddess Nuwa has images both with and without arms.
All the Yuan-tis I’ve googled all have the obvious cobra heads which remind me of the serpent men of those old Kull the Conqueror comic books.
She could also be a lamia. Because apparently there just aren’t enough names for snake/people.
ethnic variations

What about a marilith?
Oh, right. She would need 6 arms, not just 2.

Is this entire mob made up of proprietary monsters? 😀
I knew she was a yuan-ti before I even saw the final panel.
stand behind sometime = bad news
It’s the extended sssibilantsss that givesss her away. 😉
‘Who is that girl with the long tail and rattle at the end?’
I don’t know, but I like her!
Here’s hoping that Presti has a still spell or two prepared.

Isn’t it obvious? She’s working for the Tentacallis!
(My CAPTCHA code is HULU. Does that mean people from other countries can’t see this?)

Yuan-ti Halfbloods can have snake tails instead of legs, yeah. Probably not an abomination, they’re scaly all over, not just half.
Well, they got past the doorman. Now can they get past the receptionissst?
In this lobby, no ringing the bell for service. And if the reciptionist is having lunch, don’t bother her.
A southern drawling snake girl. Why do I find her so cute? Like, I’d date that, cute. I dunno if it’d work out, but dammit, I’d try.
<3
Uh… it never works out. Hint: you’re the hamster, she’s the bullsnake.
Why does the snake have tits?
Why are you complaining about the presence of tits? – Everything is better with tits! Well, almost everything.
Are you a rattlesnake or a constrictor? MAKE UP YOUR MIND.
In Pathfinder, the more advanced Lamia look like that. It depends on what deity got POed at them.
