He’s still rhyming while in disguise.

What? Why? WHO? And what bottle?
I have absolutely no idea who this might be- all I know: it is not the Viscount himself, lacking his typical corkscrewed language…

The first bubble shows an — affinity.

And we know from Malevolus in the dungeon that it’s possible to disguise your voice.

Also from this comic, where the second speech bubble is shifting between styles.

It’s not the Viscount who rhymes, it’s his… associates.

This whole situation screams “Uh-oh!” and “Stranger danger!” to me.
    Let’s hope I’m wrong…

It always pays to be optimistic about people who look and sound exactly like devils.

Good deals to be made, certainly.

In my defence, I had not yet seen the mouseover text… >_<

The “scroll” speech bubble and rhyming scheme is also ominous, as is their sillouette.

This is not boding *nearly* as well as it could be.

He had to wait until she was incredibly dispirited to act.

‘Read mouse-over text’ – ‘goes back reading the comics, more attentively’ – ‘Third panel’
    OH. CR@P.

That’s not “OH. CR@P.”, my friend, maybe not even “oh, cr@p”. 8-191, last panel. Now, doesn’t Roxy, returning to her elven roots, look like a ‘prodigal daughter’ to you?
      See? THAT’S “OH. CR@P.”

My concern is that the viscount’s associates seem to have no problem leaving their plane to visit the mortal one. Though, I suppose a summoning spell/ritual helps.

On my first read through I was happy that Roxy was going to get a pep talk from a stranger. …Then I looked closer at the silhouette in the third panel.

Their problem seems to have escalated suddenly. I guess a ghost is a bit nerfy for level 13.

Interesting that, of the whole cast, Roxie is the one the Viscount and his associates have deigned to make the most contact with, after Malevolus. I wonder…could Roxie be the “Prodigal Daughter”? I first thought it might be Maddie or Princess, but I’m starting to wonder.

It’s certainly possible. She’s after the Variel Stone. It’s possible that it could be used to make one of those rifts. We only have one page worth of info to go on, but I’m looking at what is said there closely.

The Viscount talks about the Python. I don’t know if it can be used to make an evil copy without someone knowing, he did say it would make a larger, if not necessarily a smarter manifestation. It could be that Roxy has an evil clone somewhere around? But from what happened with Maddie, it seems obvious if someone does have the Python used on them in such a fashion, so having a hidden clone doesn’t seem likely. Unless the Viscount has figured out how to do it silently. He is shown to be able to change it’s appearance.

They do say that “The prodigal daughter will unlock the next portal.” Maybe that’s what these fiends are aiming for, unlocking a rift somewhere in the elven lands. From the phrasing used, it doesn’t have to be that the fiends could be speaking of someone else besides Maddie, since the Viscount doesn’t refer to her in such terms. The Viscount calls her “the girl” instead.

Then again, it could simply be they just need to nudge Roxy in the right/wrong direction to make sure the rest of their plans go off without a hitch. Maybe they do need the heroes to get the Variel Stone and to get a working airship for their own plans.

So, it really just comes down to what is most likely.

Wait… we know they can transmute the python’s appearance. Is that staff they’re wielding there the Python, and is the fiend planning on getting Roxy drunk to make an evil copy without them knowing? Uh oh… maybe Roxy shouldn’t accept alcoholic beverages from strangers…

She could be! An elf raised by humans who doesn’t even know much about or get along with most other elves? Sounds like she could be the prodigal.

Aha, just noticed that he’s still rhyming in the dialogue, but he’s offset it so it’s less noticeable.
