So it’s possible that Anti-Madeline is throwing wrenches into their plans. Alternatively, it’s possible that Anti-Madeline is working for the Viscount and the other fiends.

He set out to change things, and his changes have had unexpected consequences, starting with Madeline and Derek’s “conflict of interest.” (See Level 12, #11) He needs to make sure there aren’t other changes he’s unaware of yet.
Hyssop is a shrub in the mint family with a long history of medicinal and religious usage. “Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean.” Pun? Possible but not ensured. After all, you would expect the cleric of circumstance to have a surprise in her name first.
