…and, for now, still on Dorilys’s side. I guess the Doc’s contract with the derro extended only as far as the exchange of goods, not to continuing to fight for them afterward.
“I was hoping you’d be strong enough to resist the Fungi’s siren call…”
So yes, they remain themselves a bit, but the fungus has some control and will over time gain full control. To begin with, they will show an aversion to anything that threatens the fungus, but otherwise remain themselves so the fungus will learn how to copy them. Gradually the fungus will gain full control as it no longer needs a guideline.
Speaking as someone who has seen how horrible possession can be – I’m a qualified energy healer – this fungus is nightmare fuel for me.
Doesn’t seem that Dorilys is quite cashed out of this fight, despite the unsound effect.
Whitey definitely needs to be careful though. His opponent’s got exceptional strength and dexterity, impressive Athletics and Tumble checks, and is wearing a minimum of Hardness 5 and 15 hit points of box.
Actually, Whitey already had a fight with that exact opponent at the start of this arc. And he seemed being capable of handling the derro that time.
Though it must be admitted that Blood Bath didn’t have any “out of the box” advantage, but yet again Whitey also didn’t have any fungi up his sleeve yet at that time.

Huh, so whitey is concious in there.

At least, not willing to betray that he’s not on her side.
It is entirely possible that Whitey’s revolving door with death means he was Undead before Doc tried make him into a fun-guy…
Can the fungi really resurrect people like that, giving them their conscience back? The mind control is only a minor setback if that’s the case.

I wonder why so many people downvoted this comment. I found it enjoyable.
26 people clearly had a negative reaction to “I’m a qualified energy healer”.
How lucky! Just when she needs a weapon, there’s a heavenly gleam, and she gets a saw!
I saw what you did, there. Good catch, though I believe the ‘heavenly gleam’ is her healing herself with the sound of angels tooting or whatever.
Philadelphus was on the money: the shield was quite dented.
And looks like she’s got some luck worse than turning green.
That was even more damage to the shield than I was expecting!
That’s coming out of someone’s paycheque…

It must be one of those shields that can convert into a buckler.
That “thunk” in the last panel is definitely an “Oh Bleep” moment.
Was her shield her Holy Symbol? Did she just loose access to most of her magic?
Only if it’s funny.
Who closed the Treasury doors? Is Grawlf still inside?
Is half a 4-leaf clover still lucky ?
i think it just got lucky. i checked the previous page. her shield had 8 leaves for the clover. now it will have 4.
It looked to me like it had four clover shaped leaves 😉

Regardless, they’re going to need all the luck they can get…
ah, you were right. my mistake.
Only if it’s Good Luck.
