Player: “My [Drow/Dero/Duergar/Kobold/Orc] steps out of shadows and attacks from stealth!”
Game master: “Wait a minute, it’s full daylight. Aren’t you, like, allergic to sunlight? That should impede your normal melee attacks.”
Player: “Oh, right, thanks for reminding me. Instead, I do a barf attack”.
The Night Wight / White Knight is back up and apparently peacefully following real-or-evil-twin-or-mind-controlled-or-fungus-lookalike Dr. Grawlf. The bloody ‘crunch’ sounded pretty final, so… what’s up? Could it be that Dr. Grawlf is a double-agent, and that it only *looked* like he hurt him badly? The red fluid could have been red wine…
I’m imagining, given that last we saw Grawlf had exposed some freaky fungus hand, this is some fungus puppeting the good knight’s body. Maybe a Creminion, maybe something else.
cycle in the moat might have been half the mission. look at ribcage (the one in the middle) he is naming locations. treasure room and throne room. the runaround soft tail led everyone on was to reveal key locations. i bet ribcage is headed for treasure, and bloodbath (big muscle on the right) is going after the “princess” and whatever chaos that cycle is gonna cause in the moat is gonna keep everyone who went after soft tail busy, probably fighting a water elemental or something (remember she said they borrowed some of the powder they gave grawlf. it was implied the powder made those magma golems, but what if the powder went into the moat to make something else?).
I like that explanation. They can scry on Soft Tail more easily than they can randomly scry castle locations (either because they know her or because she carries some focus talisman or something.) So she tears around the castle giving her crew a virtual tour of its layout, then ditches the decantercycle in the moat once she’s shown them everything they need to see.
Seems like a plan that pretty much guarantees she’ll be captured once she loses her ride, even had Dorilys and Cube not gotten on her trail. So she must be confident she’ll break out/be broken out in the near future.
Scrying (the spell) targets a *creature*, who gets a Will save to resist, and the save is more difficult the better you know the person you’re scrying on (and even more difficult if you have a possession or body part). Or a willing target can just fail the save. Everyone else in the area just gets a Perception check to notice the sensor, plus certain abjurations and illusions will conceal or alter what the sensor perceives.
In panel two, was Dolorys Happ about to set off a chain reaction that started with punching Captain Softtail’s crotch? Because that’s what it looks like.

A few days from now, in a dozen RPG games:
Player: “My [Drow/Dero/Duergar/Kobold/Orc] steps out of shadows and attacks from stealth!”
Game master: “Wait a minute, it’s full daylight. Aren’t you, like, allergic to sunlight? That should impede your normal melee attacks.”

He looks pretty slack, so, mind controlled or …?
I’m imagining, given that last we saw Grawlf had exposed some freaky fungus hand, this is some fungus puppeting the good knight’s body. Maybe a Creminion, maybe something else.
What they did to him, he did to the knight.
Ick.
Which means, I realized, that this is not, in fact, Grawlf.
Well… it’s probably Grawlf’s body, which includes his mind. Just, you know, rehosted.
I was working under the assumption that the dark robed derro wearing a skull hat is a necromancer
They’ve made it clear that it’s a contractual relationship, and the knight is following Grawlf. I don’t think that would have been in contract.
Another wrong decision made without the benefit of hindsight. Apparently the cycle in the moat is mission. And needs to be dealt with.

I think that the HWARF is the mission. Or, at least, the last part of it.
What *exactly* is it that just came out of her mouth?
“Excuse me ma’am, are you alright?”
“Shut up, I’m trying to cast Summon Distraction.”
“Oh, right, sorry to bother you, carry on.”
You’d think she’d be more wary. You don’t need to be an experienced guard to realize that people shouldn’t be smiling when they’re captured.
Derro are crazy.
Hah! How do they know that somebody else isn’t fluent in Barfese?

“Red’s the cute one and green’s th pukey one, right?”
