Hortzak and (some) friends have made it onto the Cast page! I see the anchorman is named Llewell (a name that suggests, “Give ‘im ‘L'” (or maybe, “Give ‘im Ll”). It’s a Welsh name, but they’re just small fish, and certainly not Wales.
mmmmm…. Looks to me like Court Wizard so… my money’s more on “Cool Uncle” or “Brother”
I get the feeling The King from the waist up looks a bit like the kings in a standard deck of cards………
You know a class based around swapping from four archtypes/suits would be interesting…. That said moving back to Tarot and Cups, Penticals, Swords, Wands would probably work better than the weapons shown on spades, hearts, diamonds, and clubs…. which are three swords and an axe.
…. Yeah, time to go to bed, I’ve still got poker on the brain.

Oooooh, they are in trouble. Too right. Nuff said.
(I THOUGHT that the phrase “’nuff said” seemed to be key, but I did not see this twist coming 🙂 )
Stabs: “You are completely unconvincing as a gangster! How are you getting away with this?”
Well that answers that, at least.

Like many another person in noir, he changed his name.
Last initial “N”, presumably.
Bets on whether we hear some Ragnar Rock and Roll?
You may be Ruffenuff,
but are you rich enough?
I’m not too blind to seeeeee…
Shades of Hammer Robbie!
Completely random, but in panel #4, among Ragnar’s henchmen, is that Freddie the Frog from the New Zoo Review? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Zoo_Revue
A lot of these guys (in the crowd shot from the last page) have designs that make me think they’re a reference to something, I just don’t know what.
I dunno. If he sits on his duff enough, he might be buff and tough enough to be Ruffenuff.
Is it just me, or is there something Princess-ish about the Captain’s pose?
You don’t suppose Ruffenuff is the Princess’ father, do you?

Unless the spade is vorpal, then Maddie’s got you covered.

Would that make him The Captain Formerly Known As Prince?
It’s not just you, I thought the exact same thing. The posture, and the hidden eyes instantly made me think of the Princess.
‘Nuff said.
I wonder if he’s a Hufflepuff?
Those three fish in the Background – are those the Dover Sole Boys?
