Something about the composition of the last panel feels very Hieronymus Bosch by way of the Captain Fantastic & the Brown Dirt Cowboy album cover. Maybe it’s just the swordfish-man playing cards with a fancy-dress locathah (or is a sahuagin or kuo-toa? I can’t tell my fish-people apart.)
It’s beginning to look a lot like fish-men
Everywhere I go;
From the minute I got to town
And started to look around
I thought these ill-bred people’s gillslits showed
I’m beginning to hear a lot of fish-men
Right outside my door
As I try to escape in fright
To the moonlit Innsmouth night
I can hear some more!
They speak in guttural croaks and to hear them provokes
A profound desire to flee.
Their eyes never blink and quite frankly, they stink
Like a carcass washed up from the sea!
I wish I’d paid attention to that crazy drunken man;
He tried to warn me all about old Marsh’s Deep Ones clan!

That looked like 2 twicing steps, and that was the longest pier shown, so it seems like a short walk off a long pier to me
Long walk = long stride = short jump. Just a theory.
Mind the gap.
That’s not too big of a leap in logic.
The fish look a bit surprised to see Stabbs just a-pier.
It’s fishy, how unfishy she looks
Uh oh. The mammalfolk never come through here unless they’re up to no good.

Those cannot be sahuagin for the same reason as YT cannot be the race her name is an acronym of.
Sahuagin and locathah are both in the SRD, so they should be fine. Kuo-toa are probably off-limits, though.
Based on the official art the fish-person on the far right looks more like a locathah.
Hm, you’re right. Shame on me for not checking.
Fish people.
There has been a lack of discipline…
The authorites could catch that lot in a dragnet for sure!
They’re not surprised, that’s just the default fish-people expression since they don’t have eyelids.
Or they don’t have eyelids because when you’re always surprised, they are superfluous.
Nuthin’ worse than walking into a Bar & all the locals stop & stare
“…’Large Marge’ sent me.”
I guess we ask around for Zadok Allen, then?
Not without a bottle of booze!
How ofted does a lady show up in evening wear at the black market? Of course they are shocked.
I’m not sure if she’s in the black market or a fish market.
(black-fish market?)

So is this a portal, or a massive illusion spell?
Now that’s a Far Step.
So … sleeping with da fishies has a slightly different meaning in this genre
Do any of those fishes look even sleepy? Hmm?
Who said anything about getting sleep? that phrase has another meaning
You mean it’s a eu-fin-ism?
That’s a mighty impressive eel you got there…
So possibly a portal, but man I love the fishmen’s costumes and activities there.
Hellllllo Fishtown!
