I’ve been in campaigns where we blundered around without supplies, horses, or clarity of mission. And for some reason, everywhere we went was a forest. And, for some other reason, we could never camp for the night without a night-time ambush. I even suggested we switch to a night-time travel schedule since apparently all the monsters slept during the day… but the DM was not amused.
I heard of a DM who literally made the forests “off limits” in his medieval world by making them game preserves for the nobles (Fun fact: this used to be true in real-life) simply because he was so sick of groups stumbling at random through them because they couldn’t think to do anything better.
It’s colder, when the sun is down. You hear no birds any more (or different ones). Maybe there is your stomach complaining it is after time for supper..

Well, at least they don’t try to loot, steal, plunder and rape everything that moves (including in every town or village they get to) xD
Why does a group of monsters need to make camp anyway?
Even monsters need to sleep.
HAHA, silly rusty
Wait, how does Mimic know it’s dark, or what dark even is? He doesn’t have his eye yet.
