Alas, decanters are just so expensive I have not had a chance to try out any of my schemes involving them. (Seriously, in ADnD they each cost half as much as a ring that lets use invisibility at will as many times as you want.)
Back in 2nd Edition days, I was playing a gnome illusionist/thief in a game where we were exploring a megadungeon. All the magical items we found were completely useless to my character. No armor, gnome-sized weapons, etc. What did trickle down to me was a ring of telekinesis (which was pretty awesome when the DM allowed me to affect things with it – I think it had a 500 lb. force). I also got a decanter of endless water. My character rigged a padded leather harness to put the decanter in the sma ll of his back, then used the ring to levitate himself off the ground and to steer when geyser force was used. The resulting force let him travel at around 125 miles per hour, calculating the force compared to my gnome’s weight. Fun times being the world’s first outboard gnome…

I want one of those carts
We did that with a boat… a gnome heard our idea and considered it a challange… the first outboard motorboat was built.
The alternate text advice is endlessly useful. There is no end of problems that can be solved by following it.

This one aged like wine. It’s not that different from some of the rigs people make in Tears of the Kingdom.
